Position: Solar Repower Project Manager
Location: Juno Beach, FL
Purpose: This contractor will be responsible for full life cycle project management for solar repower projects
Experience: 5+ years of relatable professional experience in engineering, consulting, or project management preferred.
Hours: M-F, 40 hours per week. Travel of 10-20% would consist of training, meetings or site visits.
Length of Assignment: 12-month contract + potential extension or conversion
The Solar Repower Project Manager is responsible for leading and managing all pre-construction activities for solar repower projects. This role ensures projects are properly planned, permitted, and ready for construction execution while maintaining safety, quality, cost, and schedule objectives. This role requires the candidate to understand the existing solar assets that are solar repower candidates, as well as how a repower design can be incorporated and optimized into the existing assets.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Planning & Management
- Lead pre-construction project teams through all phases from development handoff to execution turnover
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, budgets, and risk registers for multiple concurrent projects
- Coordinate with business management, development, engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams to ensure seamless project execution
- Manage project scope, timeline, and budget while identifying and mitigating risks
- Engineering & Design Management
- Oversee engineering design activities including electrical, civil, structural, and mechanical disciplines
- Work with engineering to review engineering deliverables, specifications, and design packages
- Coordinate interconnection studies and grid integration requirements
- Manage design optimization efforts to maximize project value and constructability
- Permitting & Regulatory Compliance
- Work with the environmental team to understand the required permits and other regulatory requirements
- Coordinate with regulatory agencies, utilities, and local authorities
- Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards, and safety regulations
Procurement & Contract Management
- Support procurement activities including equipment specifications, vendor qualification, and contract negotiations
- Manage safe harbor equipment requirements and tax credit compliance timelines
- Coordinate delivery schedules and DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) requirements
- Review and approve vendor submittals and technical documentation
- Financial Management
- Monitor project budgets and cost forecasts throughout pre-construction phase
- Support cost capitalization processes and financial reporting requirements
- Coordinate with finance teams on project funding and financial close activities
- Track and report on key financial metrics
- Stakeholder Management
- Lead project meetings, reviews, and milestone presentations
- Communicate project status, issues, and risks to senior management
- Coordinate with operations teams for handoff planning and commissioning preparation
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related technical field
- 5+ years of experience in utility-scale renewable energy pre-construction project management or engineering
- Experience with utility interconnection processes
- Knowledge of solar construction
- PMP certification preferred
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of solar PV and battery storage technologies
- Knowledge of power systems, grid interconnection, and utility regulations
- Experience with environmental permitting and regulatory compliance
- Familiarity with safe harbor provisions and renewable energy tax credits
- Proficiency in project management software and scheduling tools
- Proficiency in Excel
