Description
This role seeks a strategic thinker, visionary thinker, and problem solver with a proven track record of working effectively with diverse cross-functional partners. The ideal candidate will possess a keen eye for identifying needs and challenges before they advance into significant issues. This role demands a high level of program management excellence in the regulatory compliance domain.
As an EPM for regulatory strategy, you will occupy a role that bridges the gap between an organisation's high-level business strategy and its technical execution. Moreover, the role works across regulatory compliance and engineering teams to navigate the regulatory landscape markets across the India subcontinent and Southeast Asia. These activities involve identifying regulatory obstacles to Apple’s business and working with partner teams on preemptive mitigation response efforts or timely response plans. In other cases, navigating direct engagements and/or tradeoffs with these actors will be an integral part of the role. The ideal candidate demonstrates agility of thought, unparalleled adaptability, and broad proficiency in crafting and communicating necessary position statements on Apple’s behalf.
The ideal candidate should also complement the roles of other EPMs (Operations) and provide tactical support to other EPMs in day-to-day operations with internal teams, contract manufacturer & suppliers. This EPM should also possess the grit and resourcefulness to dive into the minutiae surrounding regulatory implementation and execution activities.
Responsibilities
Issues & Program Leadership
- Lead strategic planning and project engagements, anticipating and responding to regulatory changes in consumer electronics and product development.
- Drive strategic corporate decision-making, influencing executive direction on commercialisation, validation, and development across product and technology spaces.
- Translate strategy and high-level policy/regulatory requirements into actionable engineering measures or mitigations.
- Define strategic objectives, key results (OKRs), and success metrics for corporate and strategic outcomes.
- Problem-Solving & Risk Management:-
- Maintain broad awareness and command of schedule and project dependencies, ensuring clear focus across disciplines.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to provide insights, best practices, and solutions, updating key stakeholders on developments.
- Drive critical decision-making to resolve complex technical & operational challenges impacting program success.
- Lead resolution of complex issues and roadblocks, employing creative problem-solving and negotiation; develop and implement risk mitigation and contingency plans.
- Anticipate future challenges and opportunities impacting the engineering landscape and strategic direction.
- Technical Acumen:-
- Possess a strong foundational understanding of relevant engineering functions, technologies, and development methodologies.
- Bridge gaps by communicating technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and translating business needs into technical requirements.
- Engage in meaningful technical discussions, understand complex challenges, and evaluate proposed solutions.
Minimum Qualifications
- B.Tech (or similar) required; M.Tech (or similar) preferred, with 10+ years of work-experience.
- PMP or equivalent certification is desirable.
- Experience with compliance and strategic-regulatory engagements and initiatives, particularly at a regional level.
- English language proficiency (professional level) required; working proficiencies in major Indian dialects (e.g. Hindi, Kannada, Tamil) desirable.
- Strong proficiency in presentation applications and project management tools, not limited to Keynote, PowerPoint, Wrike, OmniPlan, MS-Project, Jira-Confluence, etc.
- Ability to operate effectively in an environment with rapid development cycles
- Excellent organisational, interpersonal, presentation and communication skills. Executive presence.
- Agility in dealing with change, and ability to refocus while driving collaborating with multi-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
Strongly Desired Qualifications:
- Previous experience working with government regulatory agencies with primary focus on consumer electronics.
- Previous experience working with accredited third-party certification bodies and testing laboratories with primary focus on consumer electronics.
- Strong hands-on experience in the evolution of the global regulatory landscape in the last 2 decades.
- Previous experience engaging in advocacy efforts on behalf of organisations.
- Familiarity in, or experience with, international and/or regional product Environmental, EMI, Wireless, and Safety standards
- Active involvement in drafting regulation standards or leadership positions on standards committees.
- Foreign language proficiency applicable to regional markets.
Additional Requirements:
- Strong command of English is expected, proficiency in local Indian languages is a strong plus.
- 10% - 20% travel to Apple sites in India may be necessary.
- Ability to travel internationally (mostly Asia, but also the U.S.) as required is a strong plus
