Title: Program Manager
Client: OpenAI
Duration: 12 month contract
Location: San Francisco, CA 94158
Schedule: HYBRID; 3 days onsite
About the Team
The Corporate Security (CorpSec) team at OpenAI is responsible for protecting our people, operations, and facilities globally. We operate across executive protection, events security, intelligence, risk, resilience, and security operations—supporting a fast-growing, highly visible organization with complex global needs. CorpSec partners closely with Finance, Procurement, Legal, IT, and internal product teams to ensure security programs are scalable, data-driven, and operationally sound.
About the Role
We are seeking a junior-level Program Manager (Contractor) to support the operational backbone of the Corporate Security organization. This role will focus on vendor coordination, budget tracking and forecasting, workflow tooling, and data hygiene, enabling CorpSec leaders to operate more efficiently and make better-informed decisions.
This is a hands-on execution role ideal for someone early in their program management career who enjoys building structure, improving systems, and learning how a complex security organization operates. You will work closely with senior CorpSec leaders and program owners to keep initiatives moving, data clean, and processes running smoothly.
In this role, you will:
- Support vendor management across Corporate Security, including onboarding coordination, contract tracking, renewals, and documentation hygiene in partnership with Procurement and Legal
- Assist with budget tracking, forecasting, and variance analysis for security programs, vendors, and services, working closely with Finance and CorpSec leadership
- Maintain and optimize security workflows and tooling, including intake forms, trackers, and operational systems (e.g., security services requests, vendor pipelines, event tracking)
- Help manage and improve dashboards and reporting, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and timely updates for leadership visibility
- Support adoption and effective use of security platforms and internal tools, helping standardize how teams leverage systems for day-to-day operations
- Track project status, dependencies, and risks across active CorpSec initiatives, escalating issues as needed
- Assist in developing and maintaining process documentation, SOPs, and playbooks for security operations and programs
- Identify opportunities to reduce manual work, improve data quality, and streamline processes through automation or improved workflows
- Coordinate with cross-functional partners (Finance, Procurement, IT, Facilities, Events) to ensure smooth execution of security programs
You might thrive in this role if you:
- Have 1–3 years of experience in program management, operations, businessoperations, or a similar coordination-focused role
- Are highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with spreadsheets, trackers, and dashboards
- Enjoy working with data—cleaning it, validating it, and turning it into useful reporting
- Are curious about how tools and systems work and enjoy optimizing workflows
- Communicate clearly and professionally with stakeholders at different levels
- Are proactive, reliable, and comfortable managing multiple workstreams in a fast-moving environment
- Are eager to learn and grow within a security, operations, or technology-driven organization
