What to Expect
Tesla’s Cell Engineering team is looking for a highly motivated technical program manager to manage new technology development for Tesla’s cell engineering organization. This role serves as the organizer and focal point for different technology initiatives, ensuring teams are coordinated and developing technologies with the right urgency and prioritization.
This role requires deep familiarity with lithium-ion cell and materials development, a passion for launching new technologies, and an unparalleled ability to pull people together to make things happen. This requires you to be technically curious, detail oriented, and comfortable delivering results in an unstructured environment. You will use your engineering expertise to collaborate across Cell Materials, Cell Design, Cell Modeling, and Manufacturing Engineering organizations. Success in this role requires the ability to work in a demanding and fast-paced environment.
What You’ll Do
- Organize cell technology development projects at Tesla and partners
- Collaborate across sites to solve complex materials and cell design issues
- Create, maintain, and communicate project schedules, including key handoff points
- Prepare for and lead executive review meetings
- Facilitate design and troubleshooting conversations within the technical working team
- Track project risks and report effectively on status, blockers, and changes
- Travel to lab and pilot sites to provide on-site leadership during critical activities/sprints
- Develop and maintain effective communication channels to all stakeholders
- Identify team priorities and motivate the project team
What You’ll Bring
- Degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent experience with exposure to chemistry, solid-state physics, and transport phenomena
- 2+ years of program management or engineering experience in hardware development
- Direct experience with lithium-ion battery design, battery materials, and cell development
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Works well under pressure, adapts to changes quickly, and manages conflicting priorities
- Ability to work cross-functionally and lead large teams
- Able and willing to travel to Tesla or vendor sites up to 20% of the time

Expected Compensation
$96,800 - $168,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
