Every time an Amazon customer makes a purchase, the Promise team sets the expectation for when their items arrive. The delivery promises we make are key to acquiring and retaining customers and influence the short and long term profitability of Amazon’s global retail business. We serve as the interface between customer expectations and Amazon's industry leading fulfillment capabilities. We are part of the Supply Chain Optimization Technology (SCOT) Group that develops and manages systems that optimize inventory acquisition and placement so products are available for fast delivery. Our systems also optimize transportation and fulfillment plans to enable delivery options for our customers.
As a Senior Product Manager-Tech for Promise, you will identify opportunities to improve our customer experience and drive initiatives to capitalize on these opportunities. You will work with economists, research scientists and engineers to design, develop, test and deploy Promise services that evaluate inventory, fulfillment capabilities, carrier capabilities and customer preferences to return an optimal delivery promise in milliseconds.
This role is a highly visible and critical position within Amazon with significant customer impact. A successful candidate will have an established background product management with strong technical ability, project management skills, great communication skills, data science experience and a motivation to achieve results in a fast paced environment.

Key job responsibilities
In this role, you will :
- Monitor impact of global supply chain and transportation performance on customer promises
- Develop and apply sophisticated quantitative analysis to produce actionable insights
- Evolve Amazon’s understanding of customer behavior by developing new metrics around market demand as it relates to physical delivery
- Establish vision and manage feature backlogs for functional areas
- Exercise judgment prioritizing between competing initiatives
- Provide clear direction and relevant communication to data science, engineering, and senior leader stakeholders regarding business performance and project status
A day in the life
9am - Discuss business metrics with the fulfillment optimization team in the weekly business review
10am - Meet with Transportation team to define the future measurement strategy for delivery speeds
11am - Write a one-page paper to describe a potential solution for a new customer experience where deliveries are consolidated
12pm - lunch
1pm - Work with science team to review new capacity model
2pm - Work with business intelligence team to review new clustering deep-dive
3pm - Spring planning
4pm - Goals Alignment

We also manage promise exceptions and inform core algorithms about the potential fulfillment for items before customers purchase. We are at the core of customer experience and fulfillment, process trillions of promises a week through our multiple tier-1 systems. Our org spans across product, science, engineering and business intelligence with a strong team and healthy team in each function.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition
- Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product
- Experience contributing to engineering discussions around technology decisions and strategy related to a product
- Experience managing technical products or online services
- Experience in representing and advocating for a variety of critical customers and stakeholders during executive-level prioritization and planning
- 5+ years of product or program management, product marketing, business development or technology experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in data analysis, with the ability to interpret and draw insights from data to inform decision-making processes

The base salary range for this position is listed below. As a total compensation company, Amazon's package may include other elements such as sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
