This is a rare opportunity to shape the future of work and computing itself. The M365 Copilot Platform is the canvas for our most strategic AI‑first experiences, including M365 Copilot, Researcher, and Analyst. As a Principal Product Manager, you’ll set the strategy for innovation and extensibility, partner across engineering, applied science, design, and product teams, and deliver cutting‑edge capabilities such as multi‑turn agent orchestration, grounding, memory, and agent‑to‑agent collaboration. This role will allow you to amplify your impact, shape platform strategy across Microsoft and its ecosystem, and operate at AI scale as we responsibly bring next‑generation experiences to hundreds of millions of users.
As a Principal Product Manager in the Copilot Platform, you’ll be responsible for fostering a culture of experimentation, inclusion, and excellence. You’ll set an example for what great AI‑forward product leadership looks like—balancing strategic vision with hands‑on execution, and long‑term thinking with rapid iteration.

Responsibilities
- Own platform strategy and roadmap for Microsoft’s most visible AI experiences—defining capabilities that unlock innovation for thousands of developers and hundreds of product teams.
- Deliver core AI platform capabilities (e.g., multi‑turn orchestration, grounding, memory, agent‑to‑agent collaboration), define how we evaluate quality and trust, and scale responsibly across massive audiences.
- Define business impact, success criteria, and long‑term investment opportunities; engage with the right partners across Microsoft and track measurable outcomes.
- Guide customer‑centered product development: lead discussions with customers, drive scenario & product clarity, and drive alignment across divisions.
- Anticipate future platform needs from ongoing feedback & usage, deliver improvements, understand and execute pivots.
- Partner with engineering, applied science, design, and other product teams to land complex, high impact experiences on time with clear milestones and crisp communication.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience in product/service/program management or software development
- OR equivalent experience.
Other Requirements:
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 4+ years experience taking a product, feature, or experience to market (e.g., design, addressing product market fit, and launch, internal tool/framework).
- 6+ years experience improving product metrics for a product, feature, or experience in a market (e.g., growing customer base, expanding customer usage, avoiding customer churn).
- Understanding and experience with AI/ML systems, including orchestration, evaluation, and safety.
- Proficiency in delivering complex, cross-functional platform products with measurable impact.
- Experience building developer platforms or infrastructure at scale

Product Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $139,900 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.
