Job Description:
University of Pennsylvania Hospital system is seeking an experienced project manager to support two major multi-year initiatives that are critical to research operations.
The primary project centers on developing a NIST 800-171 compliant environment for controlled unclassified information required for specific NIH-funded research datasets, such as genomic data. Responsibilities include consolidating two existing clusters into a new data center, building an on-premise cluster, and coordinating collaboration across IT teams. The project will be delivered in two phases: an initial six-month goal to implement a functional solution, including Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) and engagement with research computing, followed by a longer-term plan to consolidate clusters and construct the new environment. The project manager will also coordinate with external partners supporting documentation and compliance, necessitating strong organizational and communication skills for regular meetings.
The second initiative is a comprehensive redesign of research cybersecurity within the School of Medicine. This entails process analysis, device management onboarding, and the expansion of network access controls, with a three-year roadmap. The project manager will oversee program management, breaking down the security transformation into actionable steps and ensuring continuous progress.
This position is offered initially as a short-term contract through the end of the fiscal year (June 30th), with the potential for extension based on performance and funding. Remote candidates are encouraged to apply, with preference for applicants in the tri-state area (PA, NJ, DE, MD), though outstanding candidates from other locations will be considered.
