Job Description:
The client is seeking an experienced senior project manager with a strong background in technology project work and demonstrated experience in implementing technical solutions. This person will be responsible for managing a SQL Server database migration/upgrade project. The ideal candidate will bring strong technology and infrastructure domain expertise and specific experience managing technology upgrade projects. The ideal candidate will also bring deep project delivery experience and be able to thrive in a highly collaborative and fast-paced work environment. It is imperative that this individual can effectively interact with business partners and engage in planning activities to ensure timing and validation activities are well planned. Client is seeking a hands-on project manager who is willing and able to rollup their sleeves and ensure the work gets done in a timely manner and with high quality.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Take full accountabilities for all aspects of the project.
· Drive delivery across multiple business and technology teams, closely monitoring and highlighting resource constraints, dependencies across teams.
· Work to resolve conflicts regarding resourcing, timing, costs, and scope.
· Create project plans, align resources, communicate status, highlight risks and options.
· Oversee testing. Coordinate with business users, technical staff, and quality assurance managers to develop test data and test procedures to verify application functionality.
· Ensure systems implementation efforts do not compromise the availability and performance of existing systems or services.
· Host recurring and ad hoc meetings to review progress, deliverables, and drive decisions.
· Escalate project issues, manage expectations, and propose creative solutions.
· Provide clear and actionable reporting and metrics.
· Build effective, highly collaborative relationships with key stakeholders across multiple disciplines.
· Work with other technology teams to ensure compliance with client's and Commonwealth technology and security related policies and regulations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· Extensive project and program management experience with a proven track record in successfully leading technology initiatives from a cross-functional perspective. Skilled in managing resource contention, stakeholder expectations, etc.
· Ability to plan and deliver projects in a blended Agile and more traditional Waterfall development environments.

· Approaches decisions with an eye on minimizing operational risk.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university and 10+ years’ experience with technology organizations. 5+ years’ experience in project management. PMP or equivalent certification is required. Strong working knowledge of Commonwealth of VA Information Security Standard (SEC530) preferred.
To be effective, this resource would need to be available within the next 4 weeks. client desires to interview proposed individuals before final approval. The individual will follow client's Hybrid work schedule including 3 days onsite per week. The individual may also be called to be onsite for critical meetings and engineering discussions.
