An exciting opportunity to join the team of a progressive YMCA located in vibrant Somerset County, New Jersey. Position Summary
Under the direction of the Senior Program Director, the Youth Program Director is responsible for managing activities associated with our School Age Child Care (before/after school), Summer Camp, Youth Sports Programs, and Youth Enrichment Programs to create opportunities for youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility at the Somerset Hills YMCA.
This position is fully on-site with no remote work opportunities.
Responsibilities
Youth Development & Program Oversight
- Oversee and manage adaptive programming, teen programming, performing arts, birthday parties, and youth & family engagement events.
- Support development of new programs and community engagement initiatives aligned with YMCA mission and Core Values.
- Collaborate with staff and volunteers to ensure safe, inclusive, and high-quality programming for all participants.
Summer Camp Programming
- Oversee specialty, enrichment, and travel camps, including planning, staffing, scheduling, and daily operations.
- Support staff hiring, training, and supervision for assigned camp programs.
- Assist with curriculum development, activity planning, field trips, and special events.
- Ensure proper documentation, attendance tracking, and incident reporting.
School Aged Child Care (SACC) Support
- Provide operational and administrative support to existing SACC sites, including licensing support and compliance needs.
- Assist the Senior Program Director with SACC expansion efforts and onboarding of new sites as needed.
- Support staffing, scheduling, and program quality initiatives across SACC programs.
Administrative & Organizational Support
- Assist with hiring, training, onboarding, and professional development of program staff.
- Serve as a resource to staff by offering guidance, feedback, and problem‑solving support.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and mission-driven team culture.
- Support program registration, communication with families, and participant enrollment processes.
- Assist with budget monitoring and resource management for assigned programs.
- Respond to family questions and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
- Promote programs through YMCA communication channels including website, social media, and program guides.
- Participate in fundraising efforts, special events, trainings, and YMCA-wide initiatives.
- Comply with all Greater Somerset County YMCA policies and procedures.
- Model and promote YMCA Core Values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field preferred or equivalent experience.
- Two to Three years of related experience as a coordinator or supervisor required.
- Working knowledge of the State of NJ Department of Children and Families Office of Licensing preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

Work Environment & Physical Demands
- Sufficient strength, agility, and mobility to perform essential functions and supervise program activities.

- Vision requirements include close and distance vision; ability to adjust.
