Overview
The Georgetown Parks and Recreation Department’s Junior Counselor Program is an introduction to future summer camp employment! The purpose of a Junior Counselor is to assist camp staff with minor duties and learn how camp works from the staff side. The position is secured through a scheduled interview and subsequent invitation to register for the program. Junior Counselors must be 14-15 years old and currently in 9th or 10th grade. Junior Counselors must attend staff training May 26-29, 2026. Junior Counselors are expected to help lead, not to participate as the campers do. Junior Counselors will always be in the company of trained camp staff and will never be responsible for participant supervision or safety.
