We reach more than 72,000individuals and families each year at our 100locations, including 10,000 youth. CAMBA serves a diverse cross section of New Yorkers from new mothers in Brownsville to job seekers in the Rockaways. More than half of our clients are immigrants and refugees from around the globe. Over 85% of our families live in poverty, reflecting the challenges faced by nearly 1.7 million New Yorkers today.
Transitional housing programs include Short Term Housing Program: This program provides thirty-five units of congregate and transitional housing to PLWHA who are homeless or at serious risk of homelessness. There are seven units of housing at the program’s 7-room congregate facility located at 27 Winthrop Street and 31 community apartments.
Emergency Transitional Congregate Housing Program : This program provides nineteen units of emergency transitional housing to clients coming from the HIV/AIDS Services Administration (HASA) Emergency Placement Unit. Clients reside in our 24-hour congregate residence located at 23 and 25 Winthrop Street. HASA is the sole referral source for this housing. Everyone has their own lockable room but shares common space such as the bathrooms, living room and kitchen.
