The Brooklyn Center Community Schools (BCCS) District is seeking applicants to join our Out of School Time Program team for school year 26-27 as a Youth Program Staff. Work is performed under the supervision of the Community Schools Site Coordinator and Instructional Lead.

Purpose:
The Youth Program Staff will be responsible for supporting the Out-of-School Time (OST) programs. Under the direction of Community Schools Site Coordinator, this key position will assist in building a community of success through increasing the quality of OST programs and student leadership opportunities. The Youth Program Staff will deliver high-quality OST programming to students while supporting their wellbeing, collaborate with community partners, and ensure daily program needs are met.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Create culturally responsive, high-quality lesson plans for out-of-school time activities that are tied to program and district goals and initiatives. Provide lesson plans and supply lists to the program coordinator in a timely manner.
- Deliver high-quality instruction in area(s) of expertise with up to 20 students at a time, accommodating differences in developmental styles and learning.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with students and colleagues to promote a positive program climate. • Ensure the physical, social and emotional safety of all students at all times.
- Support student needs and address behavior concerns from a strengths-based perspective.
- Support the expansion, alignment, and successful implementation of OST programming by completing trainings, assisting in continuous quality improvement data collection (surveys, interviews, etc.) and utilizing best practices for lesson planning and student engagement.
- Assist the nutrition services department by distributing snacks or meals, tracking distribution, and cafeteria supervision.
- Supervise students during unstructured play times.
- Support daily program needs as they arise by being flexible and accommodating.
- Establish effective communication with families, staff, partners and students.
- Assist in coordinating student leadership opportunities in collaboration with the Youth Programs Coordinator and others.
- Represent the community schools team at community engagement events.
- Communicate the Community Schools philosophy and programs to all stakeholders.
- Recruit students for the program.
- Attend meetings and training sessions as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Sites, Days, and Hours:
Positions available at Brooklyn Center Elementary (BCE) and Brooklyn Center Middle & High School (BCS).
Program days and times are as follows: 9/21/ /27/2027; M-Th, 2:00-4:45pm at BCE / M-Th, 6:00-7:45am or 7:00-8:15am and 3:30-5:00pm at BCS. Additional program hours available later in the evening supporting partner organization Intentions. Exact shifts will be scheduled with your supervisor to include set up and clean up, lesson planning, and staff meeting time.
Pay: $19.00/hour for year one, $21.00/hour for year 2+
