Job Summary - Why you'll love this position The Family Support Division is seeking candidates to fill a Public Health Program Associate position within the Rehabilitation for the Blind Unit (RSB). The base location will be Cole County/Jefferson City, Howerton Building located at 615 Howerton Court, Jefferson City MO.
Responsibilities - What you'll do Primary duties include, but are not limited to:
- Maintain compliance by reviewing, adhering to and understanding the DSS mission statement, vision, DSS Administrative Manual, RSB policy manuals and all other applicable policies, procedures, rules, and regulations (Federal, State, DSS)
- Schedule sick and annual leave responsibly and do not abuse sick leave. This is accomplished by complying with established work schedules including arrival/departure times and meal/break periods unless prior supervisory permission is granted and managing absenteeism and vacation schedules to minimize negative effect on production, coverage, and customers.
- Responsible for regularly communicating with Supervisor your Professional Development needs, training needs, etc., and actively engaging in conversation and being prepared with questions and concerns for your supervisor
- Ensure professionalism in all interactions. This can be achieved by supporting an environment where customers, peers, and management are treated with respect and dignity, working as a team member, and demonstrating the ability to handle/diffuse intense situations in a calm, reasonable, and professional manner
- Ensure the delivery of excellent customer service. This can be achieved by establishing a good rapport with internal and external customers, effective use of work time, limiting the use of personal distractions to assist with staying on task during work hours and respecting others by limiting personal conversations with co-workers, providing suggestions and recommendations for improvement in agency programs and/or policies
- Ensuring production goals developed for your assigned tasks/roles are maintained or exceeded and are consistently accurate and timely
- Willingly seek and accept additional or alternate assignments and complete within designated specifications and timeframes
- Successfully complete all DSS required trainings and participate in other training opportunities deemed appropriate by supervisor targeted at essential and core job duties.
- Ensure all case actions including eligibility and treatment decisions and processing of authorizations and invoices are conducted accurately and timely in accordance with agency policy and timelines
- Manage client case files and perform case management actions according to program timelines, practices, and policies to facilitate client services and accomplish program goals, such as eligibility determination, establishing new cases, sending out authorizations and communication with vendors
- Accurately complete all necessary processing for computer and paper file systems for case management, case maintenance, closures, new applications and pending cases.
- Develop proficiency in use of RSB vison screeners and train/instruct other RSB staff on proper use
- Develop skill in dealing with diverse individuals and populations in the community in the delivery of public education on blindness prevention and vision screenings
- Develop business relationships with partners/agencies to promote awareness of POB education and screening
- Coordinate public health/vision screening outreach events across seven RSB offices
- Prioritize in-person outreach/vision screenings in the field with stakeholders when planning work. At minimum two full workdays should be spent in the field each week to maximize time spent providing training services
- Organize and/or conduct outreach and vision screenings statewide to meet performance measurement guidelines and key performance indicators
- Maintain current working knowledge of RSB program/policies/processes and accurately apply this to daily activities
- Develop proficiency in data entry and navigation of a personal computer to access and operate applicable RSB case management system, designated software, and State of Missouri Accounting System
- Prepare and maintain step-by-step procedures manual for each job function and report prepared
- Answer phones in a timely and courteous manner. Direct calls to the appropriate place or take detailed messages and assure the appropriate person receives them.
