Duties
Specific duties include:
- Serves as a primary advisor to the Assistant Director of the System Support and Operational Review Staff, the Executive Deputy Directors of Compensation Service, and the Compensation Service Executive Director. Performs significant internal and external coordination of Compensation Service initiatives concurrently and sequentially; develops comprehensive recommendations for products to be initiated; and evaluates management proposals concerned with changes to existing organizational structures to assure that the optimum mix of operating costs are viable and the proposed program structure is consistent with the Compensation Service and VBA strategic business system vision.
- Provides technical and administrative supervision to a staff of technical experts and oversee the daily operation of the unit, ensures programs and priorities are being executed; develops performance standards; and evaluates work performance of subordinates.
- Gives advice, counsel, and instruction to employees on both work and administrative matters; resolves minor issues; effects minor disciplinary measures; interview candidates for positions in unit; recommends appointments and promotions; identifies training needs and finds ways to improve staff and organization; carries out EEO policies and programs.
- Coordinates goals, priorities, staff resources, productivity, quality and general activities with higher-level management. Assesses resource and workload issues and promptly identifies issues requiring outside intervention.
- Serves as the functional POC to day-to-day activities related to programs driven by information technology and business process optimization. Works with teams of Senior Executive Service Directors, technical staff and group of experts to implement Compensation Service business system initiatives.
- Analyzes and identifies program areas which can be improved by automation or changes in policy or procedures. Recommends the changes required, whether automated or not, to institute those improvements.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Full time, Monday through Friday, 8:00AM - 4:30PM. Compressed/Flexible: Not Available Telework: This position is eligible for situational (ad hoc) telework only. The selectee is required to report to the official duty station each scheduled workday. Telework may be approved only on a case-by-case basis with supervisory approval.
