Nursing Instructor
Provides instruction and assesses student learning in a variety of nursing and other related courses; collaborates with colleagues to maintain and develop curriculum, serves on college committees, and performs other duties appropriate for a faculty member as assigned; is dedicated to the learning college concepts and develops programs and facilitates activities that promote student success and lifelong learning. This position includes clinical and theory teaching instruction in Fundamentals and Medical –Surgical Nursing in the day and evening programs.
Examples of duties include providing instruction and assessing student learning within their program area, selecting and reviewing educational strategies and materials to facilitate achievement of competencies related to each course taught, preparing current syllabi and instructional materials in accordance with course master syllabi, college policies and procedures, collaborating with colleagues to review and revise curriculum, teaching materials, and teaching methods to promote student success and lifelong learning, advising, counseling, and assisting students enrolled in their program in accomplishing their course and program goals, meeting classes as scheduled by the college and maintaining office hours as stated in the KCC Faculty Association Contract, evaluating student performance, including maintaining and providing tenth day and midterm attendance in addition to grade records for each class, remaining current with content, technology and teaching and learning strategies in the discipline, assessing student learning outcomes at the class, course, and program levels as defined by the faculty Assessment Committee, participating in curriculum and course development, attending division and faculty meetings and communicating regularly with the director of nursing regarding instructional concerns, functioning as an academic advisor for students enrolled in their division and assist in the advisement and scheduling process during in-service week, participating in faculty evaluation and in service development activities, working in a collaborative manner and responding to phone and email requests promptly, assisting the director of nursing in the recruitment and selection of part-time instructors, assisting the director of nursing in the selection of clinical facilities, providing clinical facilities with appropriate course materials, providing course materials and assistance to part-time instructors as requested by the director of nursing, assisting the director of nursing to meet requirements and standards set by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), serving on college committees as stated in the KCC Faculty Association Contract, assisting in budget preparation by recommending supplies and capital items where applicable, following the policies and procedures of the college as stated in the Faculty Handbook and the KCC Faculty Association Contract, representing and interpreting the program informally at available opportunities such as high school visits, community gatherings, etc., and attending the commencement program.
Minimum qualifications include a Master's or Doctoral degree in nursing and a current Illinois RN license, minimum of two years recent long-term care and acute care clinical experience in nursing, medical and surgical care experience preferred, prior experience as an excellent, innovative teacher and with the use of instructional technologies desirable; community college teaching experience preferred, strong reading, writing, communication, and computation skills as well as being computer literate.
This is a 9-month full-time, tenure-track position to begin in the Fall, 2026 semester. Base salary is based on education and years of experience. Minimum $54,395. There is an opportunity for overload and summer compensation. Please provide unofficial transcripts with your application materials.
