ECI has an immediate opening for a Project Manager in San Diego, CA.
Overview
Responsibilities include the conceptual, preliminary and final detailed design of new, upgraded and expanded substations, including material procurement, construction and commissioning/startup support through energization. A Project Manager oversees a project team of project and design engineers, designers, drafters and support staff, and ensures execution follows ECI's quality control procedures. The Project Manager interacts with and coordinates ECI's discipline groups to ensure successful project delivery and serves as the primary interface with clients and stakeholders. The Project Manager also provides technical mentorship and training to project team design staff.
Responsibilities
- Lead conceptual, preliminary and final detailed design of substations (new, upgraded and expanded).
- Manage material procurement, construction and commissioning/startup support through energization.
- Scope, budget, schedule, plan, execute, monitor and report on substation projects and proposals.
- Direct and coordinate project teams of engineers, designers, drafters and support staff.
- Ensure adherence to ECI’s quality control procedures and best-in-class project execution.
- Coordinate with discipline groups (Distribution/Transmission Studies, Grounding, Protection/Relay, Civil, SCADA/Communications, Transmission Engineering, Environmental, Surveying, Lands/ROW, Project Management/Controls).
- Maintain primary client and stakeholder interfaces and provide technical mentorship.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 10+ years of project engineering experience; 2+ years of demonstrated project management and leadership experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong organization and planning abilities; commitment to quality and accuracy.
- A willingness and ability to meet fast-paced project schedules.
- PE license and PMP certification are preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of power engineering principles; familiarity with applicable codes, standards, and design tools; ability to direct multiple technical disciplines.
- May be subject to client-mandated drug and background checks. Occasional travel may be required.
