Position Overview
Our client is expanding their project team in the Plano, Texas area and are actively looking to hire an experienced Sr. Project Manager. This is an opportunity to take a lead management role on interesting and important projects under a variety of diverse clients in the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Refining, LNG, and Power Generation industries. The selected candidate will manage projects for their customer base that consist of many End User Customers, EPC firms, and OEM Packagers. Job Description
- Manage all project execution by placing a heavy emphasis on profit and loss and cash flow.
- Manage all aspects of the project, from Front End Engineering & Design (FEED) through Detailed Design, Commissioning and Start-Up.
- Must place a significant emphasis on managing every project with the intention of increasing contract value and/or revenue along with delivering profit margin expectations that will require a minimum of the following items listed below:
- Manage customers for each project effectively by minimizing scope creep and impacts along with generating change orders accordingly to avoid low or negative profit margins.
- Directing and communicating to project team members of what each project’s scope, schedule, and budget entails. This will also involve making sure that all project team members understand and execute their projects and respective tasks on or before the required completion dates.
- Developing project schedules and reports for customers and project team.
- Develop and manage resource allocation tools to ensure that all project team resources are billable and utilized effectively.
- Must have proven experience in building and maintaining strong customer relationships along with being able to interface with customers effectively in a positive manner.
- Execute technology solutions for our control, safety and information systems projects in the industrial process markets that we serve.
- Must have proven experience and be capable of managing senior automation engineers, designers, panel integration resources, start-up / commissioning personnel, and MCC building fabricators on a wide variety of control system and automation projects.
- Support the proposal development team with reviewing commercial and technical content of RFQ specifications and providing comments to support this activity.
- Direction and training of junior controls project management and engineering staff.
- Develop, maintain, and improve client relationships.
- Follow and take a pro-active role in corporate health safety and environmental programs.
- Provide excellent practical client service with a commitment to technical excellence.
- Collaborate with other offices and project teams on projects.
Essential Qualifications / Requirements
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering
- Strong experience with MS Project is required, Primavera and SAP are a plus
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Business Central 365 ERP system is a plus
- PMP Professional Project Management Certification
- Place on heavy emphasis on P&L and cash flow
- 10+ years of proven project management experience in managing control system and automation projects in one or more of the following industries:
- Oil & Gas
- Refining
- LNG
- Power Generation
- Strong familiarity with most of the following OEM control system platforms: Rockwell Automation products (i.e. Plant PAX, Factory Talk SE, Logix PLC hardware), Wonderware HMI software products (System Platform & Intouch), Emerson Delta-V platforms, Invensys Triconex
- Strong track record of generating new business or increasing project revenues as a result of effective project management skills and customer relationships.
