Job Description Summary
This position has primary responsibility of ownership and management of design and construction projects for renovation, alteration, or new construction of healthcare and healthcare-related facilities. The candidate will provide oversight of projects from ideation through post‑completion, maintaining accurate financial records and project correspondence, and shall perform all activities necessary in support of design and construction projects and initiatives. The candidate will also oversee the management of signage and wayfinding across the healthcare system.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Reports to the Directors of Design and Construction.
- Manages all aspects of healthcare construction projects including budgets, schedules, the design process, construction, FF&E, quality control, and adherence to project specifications and drawings.
- Assures delivery of quality departmental/clinical services in accordance with established OhioHealth and regulatory/accreditation agency standards.
- Participates in committees, task forces and projects as assigned.
- Ensures a safe associate and patient environment.
- Works collaboratively with all levels of OhioHealth and promotes a team concept within the department and organization‑wide.
- Demonstrates positive customer service and fosters employee relations, maintaining positive synergy among project team.
- Consultant (Project Manager) may be assigned multiple projects and care sites at one time, potentially managing over 20 simultaneous projects.
- Supports OhioHealth initiatives and projects and serves as a positive change agent.
- Promotes a professional image as a role model, coach, mentor and resource for staff and peers.
- Develops and submits capital budgets and project schedules, reporting variances to the Director.
- Manages the purchasing process for projects, including design services, construction, FF&E, and indirectly, information technology.
- Develops end users’ programs by directly overseeing design meetings with facility employees and design consultants. Provides direct supervision of design consultants as required, reviewing design documents for compliance with end‑user programs, facility standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Develops project equipment lists and requirements by working with department managers, clinical engineering, facilities and IT.
- Provides direct supervision of contractors, ensuring adherence to job specifications, OhioHealth work safety standards and ICRA requirements.
- Plans and manages the setup and occupancy of new and relocated end‑user programs, including punch lists, commissioning of mechanical equipment, deliveries, start‑ups, coordination with regulatory agencies, and implementation of staff orientation and education.
- Attends and participates in educational programs or activities to maintain and exceed current knowledge and expertise for managing the department.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture or related field; or 5–10 years experience managing building design and construction process. Working in a healthcare environment is preferred.

- Maintains confidentiality of log‑on passwords and security of authentication devices.
- Ensures privacy and security of information entrusted to their care.

- Adheres to all information privacy and security policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines.
- Reports information security incidents promptly to the OhioHealth Information Security Officer.
