Position Overview
Woolpert is hiring an Engineer Project Manager for our dynamic Aviation team. The Engineer Project Manager is responsible for leading and managing design, planning, and execution of aviation and airfield projects. This role involves overseeing the preparation of technical documents, coordinating with key stakeholders such as the FAA and project sponsors, and ensuring projects are completed within scope, schedule, and budget. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil engineering, project management, and experience with FAA regulations.
Location: Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Washington DC, Virginia, Maryland, or Tennessee.

What you will do:
- Project Leadership & Management: Lead the development of construction plans, contract documents, and technical reports. Define project scopes, prepare fee proposals, manage budgets, and coordinate resources to ensure timely, on‑budget delivery. Oversee schedules and provide monthly invoicing and detailed Project Status Reports to clients.
- Support or Lead New Sales Initiatives: (Optional)
- Stakeholder Coordination & Communication: Serve as main point of contact for sponsors, the FAA, and other key stakeholders. Coordinate meetings, prepare agendas, and document outcomes to ensure alignment and progress throughout the project lifecycle.
- Documentation & Compliance: Review client‑provided documents, coordinate sub‑consultants for surveys and investigations, and ensure all projects comply with federal, state, and local grant processes and environmental regulations.
- Bidding & Construction Support: Manage the bidding process, organize pre‑bid meetings, prepare addenda, review bids, oversee change orders, conduct site visits, and ensure quality standards are met.
- Project Close‑Out: Review and approve final engineering drawings, summarize costs, and conduct final inspections with the FAA and sponsors to ensure successful completion.
- Client & Team Management: Lead cross‑functional teams throughout all phases. Build and maintain client relationships, identify growth opportunities during proposal and RFP/RFQ processes, and collaborate on client satisfaction, risk management, and financial performance while mentoring team members.
What you will bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required
- 10+ years proven experience in project management for aviation and airfield design projects
- Familiarity with FAA Advisory Circulars and federal aviation regulations a plus
- Proficiency in AutoDesk Civil 3D, AutoCAD and other relevant engineering software
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to read, interpret, and apply scientific, technical, and financial documents
- Ability to effectively respond to sensitive client inquiries and manage relationships with regulatory agencies and stakeholders
- Ability to sit for extended periods
- Occasional ability to reach, bend, and lift up to 40 pounds
- Occasional travel for site visits and client meetings

Base pay offered may vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience.
Pay Range: $139,200 — $174,000 USD
