Senior Project Manager – Construction Leadership & Energy Infrastructure

Our client is a nationally recognized engineering, construction, and energy services organization delivering complex design-build, infrastructure modernization, and Energy Performance Contracting (ESPC) projects across commercial, institutional, industrial, utility, and government markets.
As the organization continues to expand its Energy Division, they are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to provide leadership across a portfolio of complex construction and infrastructure projects while overseeing multiple project management teams responsible for successful execution from pre-construction through project completion.

Overview
The Senior Project Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, execution, and financial performance of a portfolio of complex construction, infrastructure, and energy projects.
Working closely with business development, engineering, estimating, procurement, and construction leadership, this role oversees project planning, staffing, contract strategy, financial performance, risk management, and client relationships while ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
This opportunity is ideal for an experienced construction leader with a background in commercial construction, design-build, MEP, general contracting, infrastructure, or Energy Performance Contracting who enjoys leading people, solving complex challenges, and delivering exceptional project outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Lead a portfolio of complex construction, infrastructure, and Energy Performance Contracting projects from preconstruction through project completion.
- Partner with Account Executives and Solutions Executives during project development to evaluate constructability, staffing strategies, schedules, pricing, and project risk.
- Provide leadership and direction to multiple Project Managers and construction teams responsible for successful project execution.
- Maintain accountability for project budgets, forecasting, profitability, cash flow, cost reporting, and change order management.
- Lead contract negotiations with clients, subcontractors, and project partners.
- Build, mentor, coach, and develop Project Managers while driving accountability and operational excellence.
- Serve as the executive point of contact for clients while building long-term relationships and identifying future business opportunities.
- Collaborate with engineering, estimating, procurement, and construction leadership to optimize project execution.
- Monitor project performance across safety, quality, schedule, financial results, and risk management.
- Participate in executive-level client meetings, project reviews, and strategic planning initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
- 12+ years of experience managing complex commercial construction, design-build, MEP, general contracting, infrastructure, or Energy Performance Contracting projects.
- 5+ years of leadership experience managing Project Managers or project delivery teams.
- Proven success leading multiple large-scale, technically complex construction projects simultaneously.
- Strong understanding of commercial construction practices, project delivery methodologies, and construction operations.
- Experience managing project budgets, forecasting, scheduling, profitability, and project financial performance.
- Experience negotiating contracts while managing procurement, subcontractors, and construction risk.
- Experience delivering projects within commercial, healthcare, higher education, industrial, institutional, utility, or government markets is highly desirable.
- Energy Performance Contracting (ESCO) experience is preferred but not required.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, negotiation, presentation, and client relationship management skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, ERP systems, and project management software.
- Willingness to travel up to 50%.
