Senior Project Manager – Data Center & Mission-Critical Construction
Teklus Construction is seeking a Senior Project Manager / Project Management Lead to take ownership of a large, complex, mission-critical construction project in Northern Nevada — leading from preconstruction and estimating through construction, turnover, and closeout, while also managing and developing our existing project-management team.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We're looking for a seasoned proven construction leader who can independently take ownership of a project, build the systems needed for success, and drive execution forward with limited oversight. Someone equally strong in the field as in preconstruction, who delivers safely, on schedule, and on budget. Beyond running the work, this role is measured on deepening client relationships that drive repeat business and on developing the next generation of project leaders.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
This description reflects the general nature and level of work performed and is not an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, and skills required:
- Lead the project through preconstruction, estimating, and procurement planning into full construction execution
- Prepare and validate conceptual and detailed estimates, budgets, and cost plans; lead constructability reviews and value-engineering
- Lead subcontractor buyout, bid leveling, and proposal evaluation beyond bottom-line price
- Own the full project-management plan — budget, schedule, procurement, staffing, risk, quality, and closeout
- Direct day-to-day field execution, coordinating trade partners, MEP/controls scopes, equipment deliveries, and commissioning
- Serve as the primary client point of contact — build trust through proactive communication and align decisions to client priorities like speed to market, uptime, and capacity
- Identify and help capture follow-on and repeat-business opportunitiesn
- Supervise the Project Manager assigned to this project and provide leadership across the broader PM team
- Coach and develop Project Managers while holding them accountable for results
- Manage cost, contracts, change orders, and forecasting to protect the company's financial and contractual position
- Coordinate quality and commissioning appropriate to mission-critical work, where rework carries outsized cost
- Champion an incident‑free safety culture in partnership with EHS and field leadership
WHAT YOU BRING
Required:
- 10+ years of progressively responsible commercial or industrial construction management experience
- 5+ years in a Senior Project Manager, Project Executive, Preconstruction Manager, or comparable leadership role
- Demonstrated experience leading large, complex, fast-paced construction projects across both preconstruction and construction-phase management
- Experience managing multiple Project Managers or leading a project-management team
- Strong knowledge of contracts, cost control, scheduling, and change management
- Proficiency with construction-management, estimating, scheduling, and financial-reporting software
- Ability to work on‑site in the Reno–Sparks area and travel as required
Preferred:
- Direct experience with data centers, mission‑critical facilities, advanced manufacturing, semiconductor, or similarly complex industrial projects
- Experience with negotiated, design‑build, or CM‑at‑risk delivery methods
- Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, On‑Screen Takeoff, Sage Estimating, Building Connected, Primavera P6, or comparable platforms
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field
- OSHA 30, PMP, CCM, DBIA, or LEED AP certification
