Job Title: Survey Project Manager / Registered Professional Land Surveyor (RPLS)
Job Description
This role leads and manages land surveying projects from initiation through completion, overseeing scope, schedules, budgets, staffing, and quality. The Survey Project Manager / Registered Professional Land Surveyor (RPLS) serves as a key technical resource for clients and internal teams, ensuring high-quality deliverables and supporting the growth and development of the survey group. The position combines hands-on project management, technical land surveying expertise, and team leadership in a consulting environment.
Responsibilities
+ Manage land survey projects from start to finish, including defining scope, setting schedules, allocating resources, and overseeing deliverables.
+ Monitor project budgets and financial performance, including profitability, utilization, billing, and overall cost control.
+ Coordinate and lead project team meetings to ensure clear communication, alignment on objectives, and successful project execution.
+ Provide mentorship, training, and technical guidance to junior survey staff to support their professional development.
+ Review survey deliverables to ensure quality, consistency, and adherence to established company standards and industry best practices.
+ Support the development, refinement, and implementation of survey procedures and quality control processes.
+ Collaborate with leadership on staffing decisions, workload forecasting, and resource planning to meet project and business needs.
+ Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, technology, software, and survey equipment to enhance project efficiency and accuracy.
+ Assist with business development efforts by building and maintaining client relationships and providing technical expertise during pursuits.
+ Support strategic growth initiatives and participate in large-scale survey pursuits and proposals.
+ Promote a positive team culture and uphold company values and professional standards in all project and client interactions.
Essential Skills
+ Professional Land Surveyor (RPLS) license preferred, with consideration for candidates who demonstrate strong, relevant land surveying experience.
+ At least 5 years of land surveying experience, including significant project involvement.
+ Strong background in project management within a consulting environment, with experience managing multiple concurrent projects.
+ Comprehensive knowledge of land surveying principles, practices, methodologies, and typical deliverables.
+ Proven leadership and team management experience, including mentoring and guiding survey staff.
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with clients, team members, and stakeholders.
+ Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously while meeting deadlines and quality standards.
+ Experience with budgeting, resource planning, and client coordination throughout the project lifecycle.
+ Proficiency in Civil 3D and AutoCAD for preparing and reviewing survey drawings and topographic data.
+ Hands-on experience with land surveying, including topographic surveys, boundary surveys, and related field and office tasks.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred and enhances qualification for this role.
+ Experience working with a variety of survey equipment and technologies, with the ability to adapt to new tools and software.
+ background in consulting or professional services environments, with familiarity in client-facing responsibilities.
+ Ability to contribute to the development of survey standards, procedures, and quality control documentation.
+ Strong organizational skills and attention to detail when reviewing survey data, drawings, and reports.

+ Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with advancements in surveying technology, software, and industry practices.
Work Environment
This role operates in a professional consulting environment that combines office-based project management and technical review with coordination of field survey activities. You will regularly use technologies such as Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and modern survey equipment to manage and oversee topographic and land surveying projects. The position involves collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, participation in project meetings, and interaction with clients. Work hours are typically standard business hours, with flexibility as needed to meet project deadlines and client requirements.
