Position Overview
We are seeking a seasoned Underground Transmission Line Project Engineering Manager to lead a multidisciplinary team in delivering complex infrastructure projects. This role will focus on overseeing high-quality design execution, maintaining budgetary and schedule requirements, and contributing to client relations and business development efforts across a portfolio of EPC and design service projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage engineering teams across various disciplines for underground transmission line projects.
- Ensure project objectives related to quality, budget, and schedule are consistently achieved.
- Serve as a technical leader, reviewing and overseeing engineering outputs; may act as Engineer of Record for select projects.
- Collaborate directly with clients and project managers to address project scope changes and ensure alignment with deliverables.
- Maintain and nurture effective communication and coordination with internal teams and stakeholders.
- Translate client expectations and priorities into actionable project plans and team direction.
- Provide strategic input on business development efforts, including proposal development and project pursuits.
- Travel as needed to support site inspections, design reviews, and client meetings.
- Apply technical knowledge to ensure projects comply with internal quality standards and industry regulations.
- Mentor junior staff, fostering growth, performance excellence, and team collaboration.
Preferred Qualifications - Proven experience managing EPC or design-focused underground transmission line projects for investor-owned utilities in the U.S.
- Extensive knowledge of high-voltage underground transmission design, including lifecycle management and specification development.
- Experience in generating plan and profile drawings for underground transmission lines.
- Proficiency in CYMCAP and Pull-Planner or similar design tools.
- Strong communication skills and a client-focused mindset for relationship development.
- Advanced understanding of engineering principles, codes, and applicable design standards.
- Working knowledge of project coordination across disciplines including procurement, permitting, subcontracting, and construction support.
- Experience in preparing proposals and developing engineering cost estimates.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is strongly preferred.
Minimum Requirements - Bachelors degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
- A minimum of 8 years of relevant professional experience in the field.
- Must be able to meet all pre-employment requirements, including background checks, drug screening, and motor vehicle record review, in compliance with applicable laws.
