About the business unit
Mott MacDonald’s Advisory and Programme Delivery (APD) unit delivers project, programme and commercial management services and advisory solutions across the built environment, defence, energy, water, environmental, transportation, health and care sectors. APD works on projects ranging in scale and complexity up to £20bn, through disciplines such as programme management, project management, project controls, scheduling, cost management, estimating, infrastructure finance and digital consulting.
Overview of the role
Senior Project Manager – highways sector. You will plan and deliver a range of highway projects, working with internal and external stakeholders. The role requires strong leadership, commercial acumen and the ability to manage complex projects from inception to completion.
Key responsibilities
- Manage development, stages, delivery and handover of highway projects as instructed, ensuring:
- Successful administration of NEC contracts on £50m projects; represent the client or contractor as named.
- Apply processes, procedures and governance protocols.
- Develop and maintain a project management plan.
- Scope projects in line with agreed objectives.
- Identify and execute deliverables.
- Achieve cost, time and quality parameters with realistic action plans.
- Coordinate H&S&W and CDM representatives to ensure compliance.
- Establish stakeholder and communication management processes, mapping stakeholders and reporting to statutory and technical bodies.
- Collaborate with commercial, procurement and project control functions to deliver on agreed parameters.
- Assess supply chain resources and competence, taking reactive measures as needed.
Candidate specification
Essential:
- NEC3/4 Accreditation or significant experience.
- Proven track record of managing infrastructure and built environment projects, leading large teams to successful outcomes.
- Experience in highways or major infrastructure.
- Membership of APM, CIOB or RICS, or actively working towards membership.
- Project management experience from early stages through procurement and delivery.
- Advantage: experience working with client organisations.
- Experience administering contracts and building client and stakeholder relationships.
- Strong communication skills with clients, stakeholders, project teams and business managers.
- High commercial acumen and knowledge of planning and project controls.
- Ability to create a fulfilling and enjoyable work environment.
