Within our growing Buildings & Places business, we are seeking an ambitious and client‑focused Senior Project Manager to join our Southampton team and play a key role in delivering projects that shape the built environment across the South Coast and beyond. Our Southampton team works with an established and growing portfolio of public and private sector clients, delivering project management and advisory services across a diverse range of property and development sectors. The office combines strong local client relationships and regional delivery with the opportunity to collaborate with specialists from across the UK and internationally.
Reporting to the Project Management Lead, you will be responsible for leading the successful delivery of projects for several key regional clients, managing multidisciplinary teams, building trusted client relationships and contributing to the continued growth of our Project Management offering.
Your role
Project Management
- Lead the planning, execution, and monitoring of projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets, tracking progress and performance against established milestones and objectives.
- Identify and mitigate project risks and issues, implementing effective risk‑management strategies to minimize disruptions and delays.
- Coordinate project teams, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure alignment of goals, priorities, and deliverables.
Project Performance
- Project finance – be accountable for the financial and commercial management of your projects, including monthly forecasting, invoicing and monitoring of sub-consultant spend.
- Delivery excellence – be accountable for delivery excellence, ensuring our delivery meetings meet our internal governance standards.
- Client feedback – support our ongoing client relationships, encouraging client feedback and, where necessary, ensuring positive client interaction and lessons learned.
- Digital capability and innovation – embrace and support the roll‑out of market‑leading innovations and digital platforms.
Communication and Collaboration
- Mentoring – provide a mentoring or pastoral role for junior colleagues, supporting the local leadership team with QA and professional advice, and demonstrating leadership capabilities.
- Facilitate clear and effective communication among project stakeholders, fostering collaboration, transparency, and accountability.
- Act as a liaison between internal teams, external partners, and clients, ensuring all parties are informed and engaged throughout the project lifecycle.
- Cultivate positive working relationships with clients, community stakeholders, and other key stakeholders, promoting a culture of trust, respect, and collaboration.
Support to PM Lead with business development
- Assist the Lead in identifying new business opportunities and expanding the consultancy's portfolio of work.
- Contribute to the development of proposals and presentations for prospective clients, showcasing the consultancy's expertise and value proposition.
- Provide input and support in strategic planning, resource allocation, and business‑development initiatives to drive growth of the team into 2024/25.
- Act as an ambassador for our brand in all communications (internal and external).
About You
- Good experience in project management, with a focus on development projects involving buildings, property and places.
- Aspirations to develop existing project management qualifications and progress to Chartered Project Manager status with either APM or RICS.
- Proven track record of successfully managing complex client organisations, with a strong emphasis on stakeholder engagement and collaboration.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex ideas and information to diverse audiences.
- Strong leadership abilities, with experience leading multidisciplinary teams and driving results in a dynamic and fast‑paced environment.
- Strategic thinker with a proactive and solution‑oriented mindset, capable of identifying opportunities and implementing innovative solutions to achieve project goals.

Security clearance
This role may require security clearance. Offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. If this is necessary, the requirement will be discussed at interview.
