About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Technical Manager to join our Egham team. In this role you will provide high-level technical estimating, pre‑sales and project support to Business Managers and Project Delivery Teams for both domestic and international engagements.
Key Responsibilities
RFP Phase
- Read and understand new consultant or contract RFP documents.
- Support the proAV team with development of technical tender documents.
- Attend internal or external meetings and interviews as required.
Preconstruction & Construction Phase
- Attend all pre‑construction workshops.
- Develop and deliver workshop outputs back to proAV teams.
- Prepare and submit technical submittals, managing them through to conclusion.
- Conduct internal meetings to deliver design requirements to colleagues and departments.
- Manage design queries from the proAV design department and coordinate external Q&A processes.
- Review all proAV drawings upon completion, manage changes if required, and ensure full accuracy of the drawing pack prior to external submission.
Change Control
- Manage design changes throughout the project life cycle.
- Work closely with the consultant on their change requirements.
- Run the RFI/query process.
- Deliver change information internally to the Design Department.
- Manage and verify drawing updates prior to issue.
- Ensure approved changes are understood across all proAV departments.
- Coordinate with Design (drawings), Procurement (working copy), Production (design), Programmer (code and GUI), and AV/UC engineer (technical docs).
- Provide information regarding changes to the Sales Commercial Manager for VQ development.
- Document all changes for inclusion in O&Ms.
Rack Build & Test Phase
- Collaborate with Production to complete rack build and test in line with the project programme.
- Verify the Programmer’s code aligns with the latest design and project timeline.
- Ensure all changes are captured and incorporated into the build.
- Oversee pre‑staging tests to confirm racks are complete and ready for consultant witness testing.
- Attend witness testing sessions.
IT/UC
- Work with the appointed proAV AV/UC engineer to progress all requirements.
- Track document production (HLDs and IT interface schedule).
- Oversee associated proAV and client team activities to ensure timely completion of responsibilities.
Commissioning
- Attend on‑site testing, commissioning and handover.
O&M
- Collaborate with the Design Department to develop O&M documentation.
- Verify incorporation of all changes.
- Check accuracy of all information.
Desirable Skills
- Working knowledge of current AV systems, associated IT elements and their installation (including AMX, Crestron, Extron, audio DSP, video conferencing, etc.).
- Technical knowledge of AV equipment, design concepts and solutions, including IT and networks.
- Understanding of client needs, room environments and use cases.
Hours of Work
40 hours per week: 9 hours a day, 8.30am‑5.30pm, including an hour unpaid break, Monday to Friday.
