Interim Schools PFI Expiry Project Manager – 6‑Month Fixed‑Term Contract / Interim Assignment – Southwest Local Authority
We are looking for an experienced professional to lead the planning and delivery of a critical Schools PFI contract expiry programme on behalf of a forward‑thinking local authority.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the planning and delivery of the Schools PFI contract expiry programme.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive expiry plan and ensure delivery against key milestones.
- Manage relationships with internal stakeholders, SPV partners, government representatives and professional advisors.
- Interpret contractual obligations and translate these into practical exit and handover plans.
- Coordinate asset inspections, technical surveys and service handover activities.
- Manage commercial risks, governance and change control throughout the programme.
- Oversee the ongoing commercial and performance management of the Schools PFI contract.
- Produce high‑quality reports and provide clear updates to senior stakeholders.
- Support wider PFI expiry planning by sharing lessons learned and best practice across other Council programmes.
Qualifications
- Significant experience in contract management, commercial management, procurement or complex programme delivery.
- Experience managing large‑scale or complex projects from planning through to delivery.
- Strong knowledge of PFI contracts and their operational and commercial requirements.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at senior level.
- Experience interpreting complex contractual documentation and managing commercial risk.
- Strong understanding of facilities management, statutory compliance and asset management.
- Excellent analytical, communication and report‑writing skills.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
Preferred
- Experience delivering PFI contract expiry or transition programmes.
- Public sector or local government experience.
- Professional project management qualifications such as PRINCE2, APM PMQ, MSP or equivalent.
- Commercial or legal contract management experience.
