The Opportunity
An established Building Services contractor is seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to lead the delivery of a major secure infrastructure project in the East Midlands.
Due to the sensitive nature of the end client and operational environment, specific project details will be disclosed to shortlisted candidates during the interview process.
This is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of a significant mechanical services package on a technically challenging, high-value project, working alongside an experienced delivery team from pre-construction through to commissioning and handover.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of all mechanical building services on site.
- Manage subcontractors, specialist suppliers, and direct labour teams.
- Ensure the project is delivered safely, on programme, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
- Coordinate with design teams, consultants, client representatives, and internal stakeholders.
- Manage procurement schedules and oversee the release of materials and equipment.
- Monitor project costs, variations, progress, and commercial performance.
- Chair project meetings and provide regular progress reports to senior management.
- Oversee testing, commissioning, witness demonstrations, and final handover activities.
- Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies where required.
- Ensure compliance with all health & safety, statutory, and company procedures.
Candidate Requirements
- Proven experience as a Mechanical Project Manager within the Building Services or M&E sector.
- Demonstrable track record delivering large-scale mechanical packages on commercial, government, healthcare, defence, infrastructure, data centre, or other highly regulated projects.
- Strong technical understanding of:
- HVAC Systems
- Ventilation
- Public Health Services
- LTHW and CHW Systems
- Mechanical Plant Installations
- Excellent planning, organisational, and leadership skills.
- Strong commercial awareness and experience working alongside commercial teams.
- Ability to manage stakeholder relationships within a secure and regulated environment.
- Relevant mechanical qualifications preferred.
- SMSTS and CSCS certification desirable.
- Experience working on secure or restricted-access projects would be advantageous.
