Job description
Help Shape the Future of Waste & Recycling in Our City
Brighton & Hove is rethinking how waste and recycling works for a modern, vibrant and sustainable city. Following the recent introduction of food waste collections, we're looking for passionate creative problem solvers, to help us design what comes next.
This is a rare opportunity to work in the heart of a city wide transformation, developing a new collection model , improving services for our residents, supports our workforce, reduces environmental impact and helps the city meet ambitious climate goals.
Fixed term: For 12 months

About the role
You'll play a key role in shaping and delvbiering a new approach to waste and recycling collections across the city. Working with frontline teams, digital specialists, partners, residents and elected members, you'll help turn bold ideas into practical, deliverable solutions.
This is not just a desk bound role. You'll be out engaging, testing ideas, analysing data and helping the council make evidence based decisions.
What you'll be doing
- Working designs developed for a new city wide collection model fit for the future
- Exploring innovative, digital and data -led approaches to improve services
- Working closely woth operational teams to ensure solutions are realistic and deliverable
- Engaging with residents, partners and stakeholders to shape inclusive, people-centred services
- Helping the city reduce waste, increase recycling and cut carbon emmisions

Additional information
Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.
We are a workplace that supports flexibility and employee wellbeing in the way we work whilst providing the best service for our customers. Team and service working arrangements are designed to support both employee work life balance and team collaboration. These would be part of your individual working arrangements alongside any personal preference agreed with your manager in advance of joining. Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team and travel to and from your contractual location would be at your own expense.
