About the Role
Waterman Aspen is seeking an experienced NEC Project Manager to support the early development and progression of a major highways scheme in Wolverhampton, incorporating a significant active travel element.
This is an important role for an experienced NEC professional who can provide strong leadership, effective contract management and strategic project advice while working collaboratively with the BCT team and key local authority stakeholders.
The successful candidate will play a key role in helping to shape the project as it progresses through its early development and pre-construction phases, supporting the definition of scope, governance and delivery strategy before transitioning into the delivery phase.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide NEC4 Project Management and contract management support.
- Provide commercial, programme and strategic advice to the client.
- Support the development of project scope, governance arrangements and delivery strategies.
- Manage and provide guidance on compensation events, early warnings, risk and programme management.
- Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary project teams.
- Build effective relationships with key stakeholders and provide confidence in project leadership.
- Work collaboratively with the BCT team, local authorities, designers, contractors and funding bodies.
- Support the project through early development and pre-construction phases.
- Help transition the project into its delivery phase.
- Drive effective risk management and project outcomes.
- Provide NEC contract advice and guidance throughout the development of the scheme.
About You
We are looking for an experienced NEC Project Manager with strong NEC4 experience and a proven ability to lead complex infrastructure projects.
You will ideally have:
- Experience working within highways, transport or civil infrastructure environments.
- Demonstrable leadership experience, including leading multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
- Experience providing NEC contract advice during early project development and pre-construction.
- A strong understanding of compensation events, early warnings, risk management and programme management.
- Experience working with local authorities, contractors, designers and other key stakeholders.
- The ability to support scope development, project governance and delivery strategy.
- Experience transitioning projects from early development into delivery.
Experience working on highways and active travel schemes would be highly desirable, including junction improvements, walking and cycling infrastructure and public realm projects.
