About the Role
Our client, a leading energy infrastructure company, is seeking an experienced Offshore Installation Manager (OIM) to lead the safe and efficient construction and commissioning of a major new offshore platform. This critical role, based initially near Glasgow, Scotland, UK , involves extensive periods offshore. You will be responsible for the overall management of the offshore site, including personnel, operations, safety, and project execution, ensuring all activities align with project specifications, schedules, and budget. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in offshore construction management, a deep understanding of safety regulations, and exceptional leadership capabilities to manage a large, diverse workforce in a high-pressure environment. This is a senior position with significant responsibility and the opportunity to oversee a landmark project in the Oil & Gas sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Assume overall responsibility for the safe and efficient management of the offshore installation.
- Develop, implement, and enforce site-specific safety and environmental procedures.
- Manage all offshore construction, commissioning, and start-up activities.
- Ensure adherence to project schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
- Lead, motivate, and manage the offshore team, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
- Oversee the coordination of all offshore resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials.
- Liaise with onshore project management, engineering teams, and stakeholders.
- Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and incident investigations.
- Manage interfaces with marine contractors, supply vessels, and helicopters.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and company policies.
- Oversee permit-to-work systems and risk management processes.
- Report progress, issues, and risks to senior management on a regular basis.
Requirements
- Proven track record as an Offshore Installation Manager or similar senior offshore construction role.
- Extensive experience (15+ years) in the Oil & Gas industry, specifically in offshore project execution.
- Strong knowledge of offshore construction techniques, installation processes, and commissioning.
- In-depth understanding of offshore safety regulations, standards, and best practices (e.g., LOLER, PUWER).
- Demonstrated leadership and people management skills, with the ability to manage large, multicultural teams.
- Excellent decision-making, problem-solving, and crisis management capabilities.
- Strong commercial and contractual awareness.
- Proficiency in project management principles and techniques.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Valid offshore survival certification and medical.
- Willingness to adhere to a demanding rotational offshore work schedule.
