Our Project & Programme Management team in Buildings & Places plays a central role in delivering some of the UK’s most high‑profile and impactful developments.
Your role
You’ll join a high‑performing, growing team delivering a diverse portfolio of projects across sectors such as commercial real estate, education, public sector, heritage, and mixed‑use development. This role is ideal for a Project Manager who enjoys being at the centre of delivery—owning projects from inception through to completion, engaging directly with clients, and leading multidisciplinary teams to achieve successful outcomes.
- Leading the delivery of projects across the full lifecycle—from business case and procurement through to construction and handover
- Acting as a primary point of contact for clients, building trusted, long‑term relationships
- Managing programme, cost, risk, and change control processes, ensuring robust project governance
- Leading multidisciplinary teams, including consultants and contractors, to achieve high‑quality outcomes
- Chairing project meetings, including risk workshops and governance forums
- Overseeing procurement strategies and administering contracts (e.g. JCT, NEC)
- Monitoring project performance, identifying risks and opportunities, and driving proactive solutions
- Supporting account management activities, including reporting, client updates, and pipeline development
- Contributing to business development—identifying opportunities for repeat work and promoting AtkinsRéalis’ capabilities
- Supporting and mentoring Assistant Project Managers and junior team members
About You
We’re keen to engage with candidates currently working in a project management consultancy or client organisation, with a strong track record delivering building projects of similar scale and complexity.
Essential
- Experience in project management within the built environment
- Proven experience delivering property/building projects from inception to completion
- Strong understanding of project governance, risk management, and delivery frameworks
- Experience administering JCT (and/or NEC) contracts
- Confident in a client‑facing role, with the ability to build and maintain relationships
- Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing stakeholders
- Highly organised, proactive, and able to work both independently and collaboratively
Desirable
- Professionally qualified (or working towards) RICS, APM, CIOB, or equivalent
- Experience in both public and private sector projects
- Strong commercial awareness, including fee management and financial reporting
- Knowledge of construction market trends, procurement strategies, and emerging best practice
- Experience contributing to business development and account growth

This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance.
