Electrical & Gas Project Manager
Argus Fire launched in 1982 are the UK's class‑leading supplier of fire detection and fire protection systems businesses in the UK.
We design, install, and maintain all types of automatically operating fire extinguishing systems and electronically activated fire detection and alarm systems for large projects through to servicing small standalone products. We currently have over 220 employees and have offices based in Stourbridge (HQ), Manchester and London.

Project Manager - The Role
You would be joining our Fire Detection and Electrical department. As a Project Manager, you would have overall responsibility for the successful and safe execution of fire detection and alarm system installations within the fire detection and electrical department of the company, working within the framework of the company operating procedures.

- The role can be based at our Head Office in Stourbridge or Hybrid working can be offered
- Regular requirement to attend projects sites, UK wide
- Occasional requirement to work away from home for periods of time
Responsibilities
- Managing projects from initial stages, design, procurement, installation, commission through to completion and handover, ensuring all plans, timelines, schedules, monitoring, checking and testing is completed at each stage.
- Responsible for project quality standards, documentation and records and preparing commissioning, and operating and maintenance documentation.
- Overall responsibility for the financial status and control of costs throughout the project. Produce month financial costing reports and manage sub‑contractor and supplier invoicing.
- Managing overall Health & Safety matters on the project and collaborating with colleagues and clients.
- Prepare detailed risk assessments and method statements within the project framework and current legislation.
- Prepare project time schedules (programmes).
- Prepare internal and external project progress reports.
- Prepare detailed vendor and sub‑contractor specifications and purchase orders.
- Provide support for project applications and invoicing.
- Collaborate closely with mechanical team members of the project to ensure a smooth and integrated project process
- Attend regular internal and client meetings.
- Completion of as fitted drawing information
- Ensuring the works are invoicing when the job is completed.
Essential
- Minimum of 5 years' experience as Project Manager for fire alarm and detection system projects, or other electrically based systems, ideally within the industrial construction sector.
- Excellent knowledge of fire detection products and system design, installation, commissioning and cause and effect testing.
- Excellent knowledge of BS5839: 2017, BS6266:2011, BS7273, BS8519:2020
- Good working knowledge of IEE 18th Edition of the Electrical Installation Regulations
- Good working knowledge or awareness of ATEX / hazardous area regulations.
- Good working knowledge of necessary interfaces with mechanical water‑based fire protection systems and gas‑based fire suppression systems.
- Ability to effectively use IT related software including MS Outlook, MS Office (Word and Excel etc) and MS Project (or alternative planning software).
- Project Management level CSCS card.
- Will be required to gain DBS clearance.
- Clean driving licence
Desirable
- Good working knowledge of model forms of construction contracts.
- Good working knowledge of Gas Suppression Systems (Inert and Halocarbon)
- IOSHH Managing Safely, SMSTS or equivalent qualification.
- Experience of both addressable and conventional systems
- Experience of various panel manufacturers (such as Advanced, Kentec and Notifier).
- Experience of various detection manufacturers equipment (such as Apollo, Hochiki, Notifier, Xtralis and flame detection).

- Able to develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients, suppliers and sub‑contractors.
- Ability to effectively plan own and others work.
