Job Title: Project Manager (Maternity Cover)
Type: Part Time, Fixed Term for 10 months
Working Pattern: Approximately 24 hours (3 days) per week, with flexibility over how these hours are worked
Location: Hybrid working, primarily remote, with occasional client meetings in London and monthly in-person team days
Salary: £27,000 - £30,000 per annum, depending on experience (£45,000 - £50,000 full-time equivalent), based on 24 hours per week.

Role Overview
We are looking for an organised and proactive Project Manager to coordinate and deliver a range of client projects during a period of maternity leave. The Project Manager will be responsible for planning and coordinating assigned projects, maintaining strong client relationships and ensuring work is delivered on time, within budget and to the expected standard. This is a part-time role suited to someone who is comfortable managing several smaller and medium-sized projects simultaneously. The role will work closely with internal teams, clients, contractors and suppliers.
Working Arrangements
This is a part-time role of approximately 24 hours per week. Toro is open to discussing a working pattern that suits both the successful candidate and the requirements of the role.
Some availability during Toro's core business hours will be required to support client meetings, internal coordination and key project activities. The agreed working pattern should provide sufficient continuity across the week to ensure projects and client queries are managed effectively.
The role is expected to last for approximately 10 months as maternity cover. There may be an opportunity to increase working hours temporarily during busy periods, subject to business need and agreement with the successful candidate.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management
- Manage assigned projects from initiation through to completion.
- Agree project scope, objectives, timelines and deliverables.
- Develop and maintain project plans, schedules and priorities in line with changing business needs.
- Monitor project progress, ensuring key deadlines and agreed outcomes are met.
- Maintain accurate and proportionate project documentation.
- Coordinate project meetings and ensure agreed actions are followed up.
- Support the effective closure and handover of completed projects.
- Support project profitability through effective planning, resource coordination and budget monitoring.
Client and Stakeholder Coordination
- Act as the main day-to-day contact for clients on assigned projects.
- Build positive working relationships with clients and project stakeholders.
- Coordinate internal team members, contractors and suppliers.
- Provide regular updates on project progress, upcoming activities and decisions.
- Ensure client queries and concerns are responded to promptly.
Resource and Delivery Coordination
- Confirm project resource requirements and coordinate availability across internal teams and external contractors.
- Ensure project teams have the information and documentation required to complete their work.
- Manage competing priorities across the assigned project portfolio.
Risk and Issue Management
- Identify and maintain a record of project risks, issues and dependencies.
- Agree appropriate actions with the project team.
- Monitor actions and elevate significant risks or delays.
Budget and Financial Monitoring
- Monitor project budgets, costs and time spent.
- Maintain accurate project forecasts.
- Provide the necessary project information to support client invoicing.
Reporting and Administration
- Produce clear and concise project status updates and client reports for key decision-makers.
- Keep project systems, trackers and records up to date.
- Support the review and quality assurance process for client deliverables, ensuring reports are complete, professionally presented and issued in accordance with project requirements.
- Maintain meeting notes, action logs, risk registers and project plans.
- Support project reviews and lessons learned, identifying practical improvements to project processes and templates.
Skills and Experience
Essential
The successful candidate will have:
- Experience managing client projects and delivering work to agreed timelines, budgets and quality standards.
- Must be eligible for Security Clearance and willing to undergo the necessary vetting process.
- Strong organisational, planning and prioritisation skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects or workstreams simultaneously.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
- Strong client, stakeholder and relationship-management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to coordinate internal teams, contractors and suppliers to achieve project objectives.
- Confidence using project-management, collaboration and Microsoft 365 tools, including Teams, Outlook, Excel and Word.
- The ability to work independently, identify risks and issues, and escape matters appropriate
