Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead a high-priority Operations IT initiative focused on developing a new system using AI-assisted development practices.
The project will support modernization of a legacy system written in Ingres and OpenROAD and requires close coordination across business, technology, operations, cybersecurity, data, infrastructure, and vendor teams.
The ideal candidate is a delivery-focused Project Manager who can bring structure, urgency, accountability, and clear communication to a complex, highly visible project with significant operational impact.
Key Responsibilities
Lead end-to-end project planning, execution, tracking, and delivery for a critical Operations IT modernization initiative.
Develop and maintain project plans, timelines, milestones, dependencies, risks, issues, and status reporting.
Coordinate activities across Operations, IT, application development, data, cybersecurity, infrastructure, change management, compliance, and business stakeholders.
Facilitate working sessions, project meetings, decision reviews, and executive-level updates.
Drive accountability across project contributors and ensure deliverables are completed on time and within scope.
Partner with technical leads and subject matter experts to translate business needs into actionable project tasks and delivery plans.
Coordinate discovery and modernization planning for the existing Ingres/OpenROAD environment, including dependencies, integration points, business rules, risks, and transition requirements.
Support the responsible use of AI-assisted tools and development practices, including standards, governance, testing, validation, documentation, and delivery controls.
Identify project risks and blockers early and recommend practical mitigation strategies.
Ensure smooth handoffs, documentation, implementation readiness, and post-deployment support planning.
Required Qualifications
10+ years of Project Management experience leading complex IT, application delivery, operations technology, or enterprise transformation initiatives.
Proven experience managing cross-functional teams across business and technical organizations.
Strong understanding of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, risk, issue, dependency, and stakeholder management.
Experience delivering projects in mission-critical, operationally sensitive, or high-availability environments .
Excellent communication skills with technical teams, business leaders, executives, vendors, and end users.
Strong meeting facilitation, documentation, follow-up, and decision-tracking skills.
Comfortable working with AI-assisted tools, automation, analytics, data-driven practices, or emerging technologies.
Proficiency with project management and collaboration tools such as Microsoft Project, Azure DevOps, Jira, Smartsheet, Planner, Teams, SharePoint , or similar platforms.
Preferred Experience
Experience with AI-assisted development, automation, analytics, data integration, or modern software delivery practices.
Experience leading legacy application modernization, replacement, migration, or re-platforming initiatives.
Experience with Ingres, OpenROAD , or similar legacy application/database environments.
Experience working in utility, energy, critical infrastructure, regulated, or high-availability environments .
PMP, PMI-ACP, Scrum Master, SAFe, or similar certification.
Experience managing vendors, systems integrators, consultants, or third-party technology partners.
Familiarity with change management, training, user adoption, operational readiness, and production support transition planning.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a senior, proactive, hands-on Project Manager who can quickly understand business priorities, organize complex workstreams, build alignment across multiple teams, and keep a critical initiative moving forward.
The candidate should be comfortable operating in ambiguity, identifying and escalating risks, driving accountability, and communicating effectively with both technical and executive stakeholders.
