We are seeking an experienced Fire Alarm Project Manager for an embedded position supporting a major customer and operating within an active New York City facility. This is a role for a project manager who can work closely with the customer, field technicians, contractors, and internal teams while maintaining control of fire alarm projects from planning through completion.
The right candidate understands fire alarm systems and the realities of working in large, complex buildings. You should be comfortable being the primary project management presence on site, resolving issues quickly, coordinating multiple parties, and keeping the customer informed without needing constant direction.
What You Will Do
Manage fire alarm projects and service related project work within a customer facility
Serve as the primary point of contact between the customer, field technicians, contractors, subcontractors, and internal operations
Coordinate installation, programming, testing, inspections, deficiencies, repairs, and project closeout
Develop and maintain project schedules and make sure work is progressing according to customer requirements
Coordinate access, site logistics, materials, equipment, labor, permits, inspections, and other requirements necessary to keep work moving
Review project documentation, drawings, change orders, estimates, and closeout materials for accuracy and completeness
Identify problems early and work directly with the appropriate parties to resolve them
Maintain a strong working relationship with the customer and understand their priorities, standards, and expectations
Work closely with field technicians and understand what is happening in the field rather than managing strictly from a desk
Provide regular project updates and escalate issues when necessary
Take ownership of project performance, customer communication, schedule, and completion
What You Bring
At least four years of fire alarm, life safety, or related construction project management experience
Strong understanding of fire alarm installation, programming, testing, inspection, troubleshooting, and turnover
Experience working with field technicians, contractors, subcontractors, customers, and construction teams
Experience managing projects in large commercial buildings or complex facilities
Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and stakeholders while maintaining accurate documentation and schedules
Strong communication skills and the ability to work directly with demanding customers and experienced field personnel
Ability to operate independently and make decisions without constant supervision
High school diploma or equivalent
NICET certification or PMP certification is a plus, but practical fire alarm experience and project management ability are more important
Why This Role
This is not a traditional project management position where you move from job to job with limited customer interaction
The successful candidate will be embedded with a major customer and will become a key part of the day to day operation supporting their fire alarm infrastructure
The position offers the opportunity to work on complex fire alarm systems within a high profile New York City environment while representing an established fire and life safety organization
You will have direct visibility with the customer and meaningful responsibility for keeping projects organized, moving, and completed properly
Compensation:
$160,000 per year
