The Opportunity
OCU is delivering critical electrical infrastructure projects that help power homes, businesses, and communities across the UK. As a Project Manager, you'll take ownership of projects from pre-construction through to final completion, ensuring safe delivery, strong commercial performance, and exceptional service for our clients.
This is a fantastic opportunity to lead diverse project teams, build strong client relationships, and play a key role in delivering essential utility infrastructure. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment and enjoy balancing operational, commercial, and client-facing responsibilities, this could be the role for you.
What You'll Do
- Lead the delivery of electrical infrastructure projects from mobilisation through to completion.
- Coordinate project planning activities, ensuring projects are effectively resourced and prepared for delivery.
- Drive compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements across all project activities.
- Manage site teams and subcontractors, ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently, and to the required standards.
- Monitor project programmes, budgets, and performance, implementing solutions to maintain successful delivery.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients and key stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
- Review drawings, specifications, and project documentation to support successful site delivery.
- Communicate commercial changes, risks, and opportunities to ensure effective project control and reporting.
- Mentor and support junior team members, helping to develop capability across the business.
What You'll Bring
- Proven experience delivering projects within utilities, infrastructure, or engineering environments.
- Experience managing multiple projects and coordinating operational delivery teams.
- SMSTS qualification.
- NRSWA qualification.
- Strong understanding of project delivery, programme management, and site operations.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
- Good commercial awareness and understanding of project cost control.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Experience within the electrical infrastructure, power, or utility sectors.
- Bonus if you have experience administering NEC contracts or managing NEC project delivery.
- It would be great if you hold a project management qualification such as PRINCE2, PMQ, or equivalent.
- It would be great if you hold an HNC or HND in a relevant engineering or construction discipline.
- First Aid, NEBOSH, Temporary Works Coordinator, UKPN Substation Entry, or BESC qualifications would be advantageous.
- Experience managing change control and claims processes would be beneficial.
