Project Manager, Oracle Cloud HCM
Contract, six months · UK, remote based · Four positions · Start: early October 2026
A major UK retail financial services organisation is expanding the delivery team on an enterprise-wide Oracle Cloud HCM optimisation programme, and is adding four Project Managers to run its workstreams.
The platform is already live. This is not a greenfield implementation, and that is what makes it interesting. The work is remediation and continuous improvement on a running HR and payroll estate that the whole organisation depends on every month, with real dependencies across payroll, finance systems, integrations, reporting platforms and downstream applications. You cannot stop the payroll to fix the payroll, and that constraint shapes everything. The ownership is genuine and so is the difficulty.
What you would own
You would take a workstream of the programme end to end: the plan, the budget, the dependencies, the risks and the delivery commitment. You would work alongside Product Owners, Architects, Test Managers, service management and a number of supplier teams, and take your change through a formal route to live with proper quality gates and Go / No-Go decisions.
The release calendar is shaped by two things you would need to plan around from day one: Oracle's quarterly update cycle, and the payroll cut-offs that will not move for anybody.
What we need from you
Project management experience on the Oracle Cloud HCM platform, held as the person accountable for the plan and the outcome rather than as a functional consultant. If your Oracle HCM background is E-Business Suite or PeopleSoft rather than Fusion Cloud, this is not the right role.
Beyond that, what will make you effective here:
Delivery on a platform already in production, and specifically remediation work: fixing configuration that is not doing what the business needed, rather than implementations that ended at hypercare Comfort with Oracle Cloud's quarterly release cadence and the regression testing it imposes Exposure to payroll: cut-offs, parallel running, and why getting it wrong is visible to everyone Working through formal change governance rather than around it, in an environment where approval evidence is auditable Coordinating delivery across suppliers and internal teams who do not report to you
Financial services experience is preferred. Regulated change exposure matters more than the name on the badge, so insurance, banking, building society or another regulated firm all count.
Practicalities
Six months initially, to 31 March 2027. Two of the four positions start on 1 October 2026 and the remaining two a couple of weeks after that, so availability at short notice matters for the first wave. The role is remote based, and candidates already in the UK are preferred.
Day rate and IR35 status are being confirmed with the client and will be shared before any submission. We are not going to quote you a number we cannot stand behind.
The end client is named to shortlisted candidates.
To apply
Send a CV that says plainly which Oracle Cloud HCM projects you ran, what you owned on them, and whether the platform was live at the time. A one-line summary of the programme you are on now and your notice position will speed things up considerably.
