Just Construction is working with an established General Contractor seeking an experienced Project Manager to join their Charlotte team.
About the Role
The Project Manager will take ownership of commercial construction projects from preconstruction through completion, managing budgets, schedules, contracts, subcontractors, and client relationships. The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator with proven experience managing commercial construction projects and the ability to work closely with Superintendents, owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and internal leadership.
Responsibilities
- Manage commercial construction projects from preconstruction through final closeout.
- Take ownership of project budgets, schedules, contracts, and financial performance.
- Review plans, specifications, scopes, and contract documents.
- Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, purchase orders, and subcontracts.
- Develop and maintain project schedules in coordination with the Superintendent.
- Monitor project costs, commitments, forecasting, and monthly financial reporting.
- Lead project meetings and maintain communication with project stakeholders.
- Manage subcontractor procurement and scope coordination.
- Identify potential project risks and develop solutions before they impact cost or schedule.
- Coordinate closely with the Superintendent on project execution and field operations.
- Manage owner, architect, consultant, and subcontractor relationships.
- Assist with preconstruction, estimating, value engineering, and constructability reviews.
- Ensure project documentation and contractual requirements are maintained.
- Oversee punch list, turnover, and final project closeout.
- Build and maintain strong long-term client and subcontractor relationships.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred but not required.
Required Skills
- 5+ years of commercial construction experience in a Project Manager capacity.
- Proven experience managing commercial construction projects.
- Strong understanding of construction contracts, budgets, scheduling, procurement, and change management.
- Experience managing projects from preconstruction through completion.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Preferred Skills
- Procore or similar construction management software experience preferred.
