About the company
Our client is an established design-build general contractor with a national footprint and 850+ completed projects. They deliver ground-up industrial, cold storage, commercial, and healthcare projects for developers and owners across the country. Because of continued growth, they're adding 2–3 Assistant Project Managers and early-career Project Managers to their Chicagoland office.
The opportunity
This role is for a Project Engineer or APM who is ready for more ownership and a clear path to running their own projects. You'll work on design-build projects from preconstruction through closeout, with direct access to leadership and the chance to grow quickly.
Responsibilities
- Support and manage ground-up industrial, warehouse, and cold storage projects from preconstruction through closeout
- Manage buyout, subcontracts, submittals, RFIs, change orders, and project documentation
- Build and maintain project schedules and budgets
- Coordinate with owners, developers, architects, engineers, and field teams
- Work closely with superintendents to keep projects safe, on schedule, and on budget
- Help with cost tracking, monthly reporting, and pay applications
Qualifications
- 2–6 years of commercial or industrial general contractor experience as a Project Engineer, APM, or PM
- Experience with tilt-up, precast, or pre-engineered metal buildings is a plus
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Proficiency with Procore (or similar), MS Project, and Microsoft Office
- Lives in or is willing to relocate to the Chicagoland area
