Project Manager – DOE Facilities & Infrastructure
Job Summary
Apex Systems is seeking a Project Manager to support Department of Energy (DOE) facility, equipment, and infrastructure projects. This role supports design-build delivery models and requires coordination of multi‑disciplinary design teams across multiple geographic locations, including Aiken, SC, Atlanta, GA, and other sites across the United States. The Project Manager will be responsible for managing design, cost, schedule, construction, and overall project administration to deliver high‑quality results for DOE clients.
This position supports both large and small value projects as part of an annual portfolio and requires strong client interaction, decision‑making, and technical leadership capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, coordinate, communicate, and facilitate activities of multiple disciplines on projects of varying size from concept through completion
- Manage project delivery activities including scope development, budgeting, schedule management, meeting budget objectives, and deadline compliance
- Manage multiple projects concurrently with a wide range of scopes, complexities, and schedules
- Provide direction and leadership to multi‑disciplinary project design teams
- Make critical decisions and recommendations that have a significant impact on projects and programs
- Monitor project execution to ensure conformance with established processes and procedures
- Promote and support safe work environments throughout design and construction phases
- Assist with the development of technical proposals, cost estimates, and qualification statements
- Interact directly with clients and design teams to develop project scope and provide regular project status updates
- Serve as a primary interface with local clients
- Support business development activities by assisting with client relationship management and networking within client organizations
- Support field activities throughout design and construction phases
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field from an accredited institution
- Minimum of 7–20 years of related experience, including delivery of facilities and infrastructure projects
- Experience supporting DOE facility, equipment, and infrastructure projects
- Experience working on design‑build projects
- Ability to represent Apex Systems in a professional and competent manner
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities
- Ability to devise new approaches to problems encountered
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Security Clearance
- Willingness and ability to support field work during design and construction
