Program Overview
The Program Director oversees the Internal Medicine Residency Program (“IM Program” or “Program”) under the guidance of the Designated Institutional Official (DIO). The Director manages general administration, curriculum development, hiring, teaching, and mentoring. The Director sets the strategic vision and ensures standards, quality, and reputation of the program while fostering collaboration with physician practices and hospital services to improve value and quality. The Director works with program leadership to ensure outstanding educational offerings at Ascension Sacred Heart Bay Hospital.
Responsibilities
- Clinical teaching and supervision of residents
- Core program clinical teaching
- Clinical practice in internal medicine or applicable subspecialty
- General administration
- Graduate Medical Education (GME) committees and meetings
- GME lecturing/teaching conferences
- GME recruiting/interviewing
- GME research/scholarly activity
- Resident evaluation/monitoring
- Program evaluation
Qualifications
- Doctoral degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of teaching, academic research, and service.
- Valid FL medical license, or licensed in another state with the ability to obtain FL licensure.
- Board certified in Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM).
- Minimum of three years of faculty and administrative experience in an ACGME‑accredited internal medicine residency program.

- Outstanding interpersonal, leadership, mentoring, and teaching skills.
- Strong work ethic and desire to participate in a team‑oriented, performance‑driven health system.
- Clear and professional communication in person, on the phone, electronically, and in writing.
- Ability to build and lead high‑performing teams with clear direction and guidance.
- Strong administrative and team‑building skills.
