Provision of Social Work Services
Duties
The incumbent will provide triage assessment, crisis intervention, brief counseling, and evidence-based individual and group psychotherapy for Veterans with a broad spectrum of diagnoses, including depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, trauma-related conditions, substance abuse conditions, and personality disorders.
The incumbent will provide same day access for Veterans seeking to initiate care and will also provide assertive community outreach for Suicide Prevention.
The incumbent sets clinical care goals in collaboration with the patient, monitors progress toward goals, and works to achieve outcomes, including reduced hospitalizations.
The incumbent will serve collaboratively on a Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program team and assist with consult management.
The incumbent recognizes complex situations that impact patient care and intervenes, using sound judgment and appropriate resources.
The incumbent has knowledge of community and VA resources, and makes appropriate referrals to programs in order to best meet Veterans' needs and coordinate Veterans' care.
The incumbent advocates on behalf of the Veteran to ensure that services and benefits are obtained in a timely manner and in keeping with the VA's goals for excellence in customer service.
The incumbent effectively utilizes electronic resources required for providing services and completing reports. These include, but are not limited to, electronic medical health record (EMHR), CPRS, VISTA, Microsoft Word, workload reporting, and program referral procedures. Incumbent documents work appropriately and in a timely manner in the medical record.
The incumbent participates in performance improvement activities and tracks and trends issues as part of performance improvement plan.

The incumbent provides education and consultation to staff, students, patients, and families regarding programs and serves as a point of contact for the community for these programs. Incumbent remains current on VA policies and procedures relevant to program areas. Incumbent works with team to meet goals and performance measures within program.
The incumbent may provide training opportunities to various disciplines.
The incumbent may participate in the training of Social Work Students.

EDRP Authorized:
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Pay:
Competitive salary and regular salary increases. When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade).
Paid Time Off:
37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior (work experience) or military service experience.
Parental Leave:
After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.
Child Care Subsidy:
After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66
