Our client, an international energy systems developer, is looking for a Technical Project Manager (TPM) to lead the technical work throughout the development and sale of energy system projects across PV, wind, and energy storage .
The TPM is responsible for delivering technical solutions that support the successful construction and operation of projects. During the construction phase, the TPM is also responsible for quality follow-up, change management, and resolving technical issues that may arise on site.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Engineering Leadership and Team Management
- Lead a team of engineers, including:
- Civil Engineer
- Construction Engineer
- Grid Connection Manager
- Wind and Turbine Performance Engineer
- Solar Project Engineer
- Act as the single point of contact for technical queries across projects.
- Work closely with product owners and specialist-area experts.
- Manage external technical advisors where applicable.
Technical and Design Management
- Manage the engineering and design of the complete energy system, including:
- PV plants
- Wind turbines
- Internal and external grid infrastructure
- Substations and transformers
- Civil works, including roads, hardstands, and logistics areas
- Foundations
- Control systems
- Take ownership of CAPEX and OPEX assumptions, ensuring alignment with capacity and yield throughout the development process.
- Establish the engineering schedule with the project team and monitor progress to ensure that technical deliverables are completed on time.
- Ensure that designs at every project stage comply with:
- Applicable norms and regulations
- Employer Requirements under the relevant contract structure
- Grid connection requirements
- Grid code compliance
- Market requirements
- Other project-specific requirements
- Conduct optimisation analyses to achieve the best-value energy system design.
- Challenge and coordinate the engineering team in line with the financial analyses prepared by the transactions team.
Quality, Risk, Health and Safety
- Act as the Client Representative for Health and Safety during the development phase, including managing health and safety risks associated with project layout and design.
- Manage quality follow-up and risk handling during development.
- Organise engineering checkpoints and ensure that findings are incorporated into subsequent project stages.
- Apply energy system expertise to mitigate commercial risks related to proposed project designs and performance.
Procurement, Construction and Stakeholder Coordination
- Support the procurement team in:
- Issuing Requests for Quotation
- Reviewing bids
- Supporting or leading negotiations regarding relevant technical appendices
- Work with the construction team to establish the quality follow-up plan and support its implementation, as agreed with the Construction Project Manager.
- Participate in the change management process.
- Approve significant changes from an engineering perspective.
- Support the resolution of technical issues arising during construction.
- Provide technical expertise and oversight throughout all project stages.
- Maintain an organised and clearly documented set of project-specific technical deliverables.
- Collaborate with key internal stakeholders to ensure effective strategic integration.
REQUIREMENTS
- Strong understanding of the energy system project development process in the relevant markets.
- Understanding of energy project finance.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Several years of experience working in a multinational organisation.
- Experience working across projects in multiple countries is an advantage.
- Experience in other energy markets, such as Oil and Gas, wind, or PV, is valued.
- Construction experience is highly valued.
- Master of Science degree in Engineering.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Project, and Excel.
- Strong interest in technology and a hands‑on approach to technical and modelling work.
- Understanding of the commercial aspects of projects and awareness of environmental considerations.
- Agile and creative thinker with a proactive, one‑step‑ahead mindset.
- Ability to listen, collaborate, and share knowledge.
