Overview
The Panther Group is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior ITS Project Manager to support a leading Boston-based institution’s Division of Information Technology Services (ITS). This role is responsible for driving the successful delivery of large-scale, complex IT initiatives aligned with strategic priorities.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a strong track record of leading enterprise technology projects in dynamic, matrixed environments. This individual must be both strategic and hands-on, with the ability to influence stakeholders, manage competing priorities, and deliver measurable business value.
This is a hybrid position requiring on-site presence in Boston three days per week.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field
- Master’s degree preferred
- PMP, Agile, PRINCE2, or similar certification preferred
Experience
- 8–10 years of progressive IT project management experience
- Proven experience managing large, cross-functional, enterprise-level initiatives (CRM, ERP, infrastructure, cloud, data integration, etc.)
- Minimum 5 years partnering with business leaders, technical teams, and executive stakeholders
- Experience leading organizational change for enterprise technology implementations, including adoption and post-go-live stabilization
- Demonstrated success leading teams in matrixed organizations without direct authority
- Strong history of data-driven planning, risk mitigation, and decision-making
Knowledge & Skills
- Expertise in Waterfall, Agile, and hybrid methodologies
- Proficiency with MS Project, Smartsheet, ServiceNow, Jira, or similar tools
- Strong analytical, systems-thinking, and problem-solving capabilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including executive-level presentations
- Ability to translate complex information into clear, actionable plans
- Strong relationship-building and conflict resolution skills
- Experience managing budgets and resource planning for large-scale initiatives
- Understanding of emerging technologies and digital transformation strategies
- Highly organized, self-motivated, and comfortable in fast-paced environments
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
- Project Leadership & Execution — 40%: Lead the planning and delivery of complex IT initiatives across departments. Develop and manage project plans, scope, budgets, timelines, and resource allocations while ensuring alignment with strategic goals. Oversee risk management, change readiness, operational transition, and quality of deliverables.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Communication — 25%: Serve as the primary liaison between technical teams, business units, and executive sponsors. Facilitate alignment across stakeholders, present updates and risk assessments to leadership, and ensure transparent communication throughout the project lifecycle.
- Team Leadership & Collaboration — 20%: Provide direction and oversight to cross-functional teams and vendors. Establish accountability, foster collaboration, and promote innovative problem-solving in a matrixed environment.
- Monitoring, Reporting & Financial Oversight — 15%: Track progress, manage risks and financials, publish status reports, and adjust plans as needed. Conduct post-project evaluations, document lessons learned, and ensure responsible budget management.
Pay is $80-$97.90 per hour DOE
