About the Role
Our client, a leading construction and engineering firm with significant operations in the **East Midlands**, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Civil Project Manager to lead high-value infrastructure projects from their **Derby, Derbyshire, UK** base. This role demands strong leadership, excellent planning and organisational skills, and a deep understanding of civil engineering principles and construction processes. You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of project execution, including budget management, schedule adherence, risk mitigation, and stakeholder communication. Key Responsibilities
- Take overall responsibility for the successful planning, execution, and delivery of civil engineering projects.
- Develop and manage comprehensive project plans, including scope, budget, timeline, and resource allocation.
- Oversee site operations, ensuring adherence to safety regulations, quality standards, and environmental policies.
- Manage contracts, procure materials, and coordinate subcontractors and third-party suppliers.
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, and regulatory authorities.
- Monitor project progress, identify potential risks and issues, and implement effective mitigation strategies.
- Prepare regular project reports for senior management and stakeholders.
- Lead and motivate project teams, fostering a collaborative and productive working environment.
- Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality specifications.
- Manage project variations, claims, and dispute resolution processes.
Requirements
- A degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience in a Senior Project Management role within the civil engineering or construction industry.
- A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in managing complex infrastructure projects (e.g., highways, utilities, groundwork, structures).
- Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, contract management, and relevant UK regulations.
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6) and standard office software.
- Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong financial acumen and experience managing large project budgets.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders effectively.
- A proactive and solutions-oriented approach to problem-solving.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel for site visits in **Derbyshire** and the **East Midlands**.
