Overview As a Senior Project Manager Engineer at TE, you will lead capital investment projects at the Swindon site, starting with the Thermofit Molding Value Stream. You will own the full lifecycle from concept to handover, coordinating with manufacturing, quality, EHS, and suppliers to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery with regulatory compliance. You’ll shape equipment specifications, manage budgets and CAPEX, and drive safe, efficient installation and production readiness. This role offers a meaningful impact by advancing a multi-million investment programme in a manufacturing environment and bridging engineering with operations.
Responsibilities - Lead projects from concept to operational handover within scope, budget, and timelines
- Develop equipment specifications with Manufacturing Engineering and Technical teams
- Support supplier selection and procurement with Indirect Procurement
- Prepare CAPEX submissions and cost estimates
- Raise purchase orders in SAP for equipment and contractor services
- Manage schedules, resources, risks, and stakeholder communications
- Produce engineering designs, cell layouts, and CAD drawings (3D modelling advantageous)
- Collaborate on Value Stream and workstation layouts using lean principles
- Coordinate equipment delivery, installation, commissioning, validation and production readiness
- Supervise contractors and ensure site safety and RAMS/Permit to Work compliance
- Support training and operational handover with Manufacturing Engineering
- Manage engineering change requests and ensure quality and regulatory compliance
- Ensure compliance with machinery safety, CE/UKCA, CDM, PUWER, guarding and contractor management
- Build relationships across the organization to enable project delivery
- Provide broader engineering project support post-implementation
Key requirements - Degree-qualified in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Electrical or related Engineering discipline
- Experience managing engineering projects in a manufacturing environment
- Proven track record delivering capital equipment projects from concept to completion
- Experience specifying, procuring, installing and commissioning equipment
- Mechanical design and factory layout experience
- Experience managing CAPEX budgets and business cases
- Good understanding of manufacturing processes and production environments
- Knowledge of machinery safety and regulatory requirements (PUWER, CE/UKCA, etc.)
- Strong communication, stakeholder management and reporting skills
- Ability to influence across functions and levels
- Strong leadership, planning and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Knowledge of international equipment movement
- Experience in injection moulding, plastics, or new production lines
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software (CREO or Inventor)
- Project Management qualification (APM, PRINCE2, PMP or equivalent)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Project
