Commercial Construction Project Manager / Senior Project Manager
Location: Charlotte, NC
We are seeking an experienced Commercial Construction Project Manager, Senior Project Manager, or Construction Manager to join a well-established General Contractor in Charlotte, NC. This is an opportunity to take a leadership role delivering complex ground-up and renovation projects across the healthcare, education, commercial, industrial, and multifamily sectors throughout the Midwest and Southeast.
The ideal candidate has a strong background managing large-scale commercial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout and enjoys taking ownership of projects, building strong client relationships, and leading high-performing project teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead complex ground-up and renovation projects from preconstruction through final completion and closeout.
- Manage project budgets, schedules, contracts, procurement, forecasting, change orders, and overall financial performance.
- Coordinate closely with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, field teams, and internal leadership.
- Partner with Superintendents to develop and maintain project schedules, logistics plans, and construction sequencing.
- Lead subcontractor procurement, scope reviews, buyout, contract negotiations, and ongoing subcontractor management.
- Identify project risks early and develop solutions to maintain schedule, budget, quality, and safety expectations.
- Manage RFIs, submittals, change management, cost reporting, monthly forecasting, and owner billing.
- Lead owner and project meetings while providing clear communication on schedule, cost, risk, and overall project progress.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and project partners throughout the construction process.
- Mentor and develop Assistant Project Managers, Project Engineers, and other members of the project management team.
- Ensure projects meet company standards for safety, quality, profitability, and client satisfaction.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of commercial construction experience with a General Contractor or Construction Manager; additional experience preferred for Senior Project Manager-level candidates.
- Proven experience managing significant ground-up and/or complex renovation projects .
- Experience within healthcare, education, commercial, industrial, multifamily, or similarly complex building sectors preferred.
- Strong understanding of construction contracts, scheduling, cost control, procurement, forecasting, and project financials.
- Demonstrated ability to manage subcontractors and coordinate effectively with field operations.
- Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and client-facing skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of organization and attention to detail.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred; equivalent industry experience will also be considered.
