Description Strong project managers are essential to our success. We’re looking for a pro to support our growing Municipal Drinking Water Team. In this role, you will lead some of the industry's best engineers while executing highly technical, complex projects including drinking water treatment facility, pump station, and water storage tank design/construction. It takes many skills to manage projects in the engineering industry, from forming and maintaining strong relationships with clients and partners, to successfully delivering projects, to staying in step with current and future regulations, to actively seeking out the next project. Our Denver, Colorado office is home to more than 400 engineering, environmental, and construction professionals that work side by side to Create Amazing successes for our clients. We work on a diverse range of projects in Colorado and nationwide, spanning water, power, telecommunications, manufacturing, federal, aviation, and aviation.
Our Denver, Colorado Water team is a dynamic group of 55 people that focus on water and wastewater projects for municipal and industrial clients, spanning treatment, distribution and collection, and more. Our project managers do not just manage projects – they are a vital part of our leadership team that have an active role in developing others, shaping the types of projects we pursue, and winning projects. We are looking for project managers with technical backgrounds in planning, design, and construction.
We need a Municipal Drinking Water Project Manager who will:

- Understand and apply conventional and advanced treatment technologies to solve complex water quality challenges for clients in Colorado and the western states.
We are also looking for a Project Manager who can:
- Provide leadership and guidance through all aspects of engineering projects from concept to completion, including overall safety, quality, engineering, procurement, construction, permitting, project controls, and public/community relations.
- Collaborate and coordinate with multi-disciplinary project teams to provide deliverables and services that meet internal QA/QC requirements and client expectations.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout each project, building a relationship as a trusted partner as the project progresses.
- Develop and monitor project schedules, manage scope, and plan for the financial success of your projects.
- Plan, organize, and communicate project personnel needs to department management.
- Communicate project progress, cost and schedule metrics, design questions, and project challenges requiring additional support to department management.
- Provide performance feedback for project team members as appropriate.
- Work to proactively identify and position for upcoming projects and opportunities; utilize business development skills to lead proposals, win new projects, and increase existing client base.
- Leverage existing client relationships and focus on repeat work within each client account.
- Manage the review, negotiation, approval, and execution of prime contracts, subcontracts, and change orders.
- Be visible in the regional water and wastewater marketplace through leadership and participation in professional organizations.
- Provide guidance and industry feedback or trends to the water leadership team.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management or related degree from accredited program required.
- Minimum of 7 years of related experience (10 years preferred) in design engineering, including 3 or more years of experience managing engineering projects. Completion of a master's degree in a related field may be substituted for one year of experience.
- Previous consulting experience preferred.
- Professional Registration preferred.
- Demonstrated success in project management strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to develop business and establish relationships with clients strongly preferred.
- Prior experience on construction project sites or executing program management in the industries of aviation, commercial, energy, government, manufacturing, oil & gas, process, transmission & distribution, or water is preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.
- Must have the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and clients.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
- This position requires an individual capable of applying intensive and diversified knowledge of principles and practices to broad areas of assignments.
- Must be capable of devising new approaches to problems encountered.
- Ability to influence, lead and manage change thoughtfully and positively strongly desired.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, demanding work environment, ability to work overtime on short notice.
- Excellent computer skills and proficiency using Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work collaboratively with others (owners, contractors, engineers, designers) in a multi-disciplined project team environment to resolve design or drawing issues as appropriate and to accomplish objectives.
- Strong experience with document control, scheduling, cost control and project management software
