Do you have a passion for helping individuals? Are you a Veteran or eligible spouse that wants to assist Veterans get back into the workforce? Can you translate military jargon into civilian terms? We are seeking a dedicated Veteran or eligible spouse to provide individualized career and training-related services to veterans and eligible persons with significant barriers to employment through case management processes. You would promote the Employment Development Department (EDD), Jobs for Veterans State Grants (JVSG) and Workforce Services (WS) programs by providing employment services with the maximum emphasis directed toward serving veterans who are economically or educationally disadvantaged.
Under general supervision, Disabled Veterans' Outreach Program (DVOP) specialist will perform the duties, roles and responsibilities as described and mandated in U.S.C. Title 38, chapters 41 and 42.
By utilizing a collaborative team approach with America's Job Center of California staff, the DVOP must provide intensive services only to veterans and other eligible clients that are eligible to receive DVOP specialist services as described in the current Veterans Program Letter's (VPL's) and Training and Employment Guidance Letter's (TEGL's). These clients may receive staff assisted services in conjunction with intensive services to provide veterans and other eligible clients the means to accomplish their employment goals.

Travel may be required with this position. Position exists in South Gate. Per the Governor's Office of California, the Employment Development Department is considered an essential department. The position requires local in-person workload, though some telework may be available. This position's office follows the recommended safety guidance from the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) and the Center of Disease Control (CDC) Effective July 1, 2025, specific Bargaining Units and associated Excluded State employees are subject to a salary reduction between 2% - 4.62% in exchange for hours in the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) per month.
